One of my favorite record stores (Comeback Vinyl in Alpharetta, GA) put up their leftovers on their online store. Snagged one of their last Allman Bros and the Uncle Tupelo No Depression demos.
ended up with: dave van ronk- live at sir george williams university wilco- live at the troubadour ben kweller- ben kweller neil young- tonight's the night live at roxy michael hurley- hifi snock uptown (non rsd) scored most everything i wanted. that van ronk is killer, definitely recommend if you're into folk/blues. he was greenwich village when bob dylan was just a jew from minnesota. just missed on the tom waits brawlers/bastards and the uncle tupelo demos. might have to hit discogs.

It was Live at Folsom Prison, but it was a special 50th anniversary release, which included both Folsom Prison concerts, some warmup tracks, and other stuff on multiple LPs. I have the Live at San Quentin vinyl, but I do appreciate your offer!
Ah got you. The prize of my collection right now is the American Highway IV. GF got it for me unopened but obviously it was opened immediately to listen to. Well that or the original NWA ones.
This is a pretty big Widespread market, so I bet they got a shit ton of them. I was kind of surprised that there were that many left.
Yeah, same with Columbia and Atlanta... Which were the only places I knew of people looking for them.
So ATLiens actually isn't too hard to find for a decent price on discogs. Most of them come from overseas, but from really reputable sellers. Enter The Wu is expensive af though.
Having a friend make this for me. He's got an air-dried maple slab with a live edge for the top. Turntable and amp/preamp are going to sit on top with Rega towers on both sides of the piece. Super excited to get all my records in one spot and see if the tonal properties of the maple result in a better sound than the shitty media cabinet I have it on now.
Which model is that? Upgrading my shitty all in one to an Audio-Technica and some powered bookshelf speakers (thank you pawn shop) made such a difference in the sound. Hate that I didn't do that earlier.
wes tegg not a day goes by that I don’t miss End of All Music. Shangri La and Goner are aight, but damn does David run an amazing store down in Oxford.
LP1240. Don’t remember why I chose this model over the LP120 because by all accounts the latter is more than sufficient, but I did (the turntable has been on my purchase list for a while).
My ~10 year old Audio Technica LP120 seems to have a problem with its arm skating across records and I can't seem to fix it, so I'm thinking I'm going to replace it. I'm also in the midst of upgrading my entire stereo system, so it's a good time to replace it anyway. Any recommendations on players and floorstanding/bookshelf speakers? Have read good things about the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon DC (and especially the cartridge it comes with), but wondering if anyone here has used one or has other suggestions around the same price point. Looking for something better than entry level but not quite audiophile. Not looking to spend ~$600+ on the actual player just yet. Speakers are still wide open, so any suggestions are appreciated. Only need 2 speakers, which I may or may not connect to the rest of the audio/home theater system that will be all Sonos-based. TIA
I have a project (might be the debut, it was entry level). I think it's a great entry level table because it's really easy to upgrade. I added a speed box, new cartridge and acrylic platter over time. The biggest bang for my buck was the platter. Made a huge difference in the background hiss for $50. I'd order that now. I have it paired with a Cambridge preamp, rotel integrated 1520 and Rega towers. In a smaller living room, it sounds like you're at a concert. I moved it to a bigger space and the sound isn't as big and live. Check out audiogon.com. It's like an audiophile Craigslist. I bought my amp lightly used through there and saved a few hundred bucks.
Really considering pulling the trigger on this fella: http://www.bullmoose.com/p/23306322/mother-2-soundtrack-lp
What makes you say that? Even when not on the record, the arm tends to gravitate to the edge of the player. I think it's a weighting problem, but one I can't seem to solve despite adjusting the weight dozens of times
Oh gotcha. You didn't say that the first time round;) So if you have a record on, it slides the opposite direction it would if it were naturally following the groove?
Correct, and it does so quickly. Drop the needle with the record spinning, and it immediately starts going towards the edge of the player and the needle drags across the record
Double-vinyl album. One album is single-sided, this is on the "blank" side. Really dope. Also, my double-sided album has the same "side" sticker on both sides. Suppose that makes it special.
I wouldn’t consider myself a vinyl nerd but I have a hefty stack of LPs and 7”s. My record player broke but I’m gonna get a new set up soon. I need a new one. Anybody have any suggestions.
Bought the AT LP-120 on Prime Day for $220. I love it so far. Sound quality even with the stock cartridge/stylus is really nice, it weighs a ton(in a good way), and looks really nice. Glad I waited, because I nearly jumped on the cheaper LP-60 about a month prior, but I feel like I would have wanted to replace that after no more than a year.
Finally able to get my system set up. Been accumulating a few records between getting everything and finally set it up, but stopped at the record store today on my way home and snagged good kid maad city. Looking forward to building my collection up
I'll take a picture tonight of my current setup. Managed to pick up the Black Album and Janice Joplin - Pearl this weekend in St Louis.
Definitely need to up my speaker game. I want upgrade eventually to a setup that I can have bluetooth speakers hooked to. And yes I said fuck it and put stickers on the cover. Once I added one I just kept going.
Here's a couple of my pride and joys. wes tegg would be proud off turn towards full kn record snob. All of those are originals. No re-releases in this house. The American Highway 4 was sealed when the GF gave me it for Christmas.
