Boeing and United have to be so relieved that a boat smashed into a bridge. Finally something to get the media away from the obsession.
The number of comments I’ve heard today about Boeing and United from my mother and work colleagues. I’m flying on a piece of shit embraer. Calm down
I fly on the ERJ 135/145s fairly often and those can be a bit sketchy when they hit turbulence They're tiny and shake like crazy
175s are more advanced than anything Boeing or Airbus have put out* *maybe the A220 is more advanced, I'm not sure, but that's a bombardier plane so fuck that. Edit: specifically talking narrow bodies. The 787 is definitely more advanced.
Stuff happens like this on planes everyday. They get diverted, bump each other in airports, have clogged shitters, lose engine power, smoke in the cabin, etc. Luckily pilots are trained to deal with them exceptionally well and avoid catastrophe 99.999% of the time. HTH
This. All the stories calling out Boeing and United are just the latest fear fad. There is absolutely nothing out of the ordinary going on and air travel has never been safer. There is nobody on any aircraft that wants to die in a smoking hole less than the pilots and they are very, very well trained in how to avoid exactly that.

none? https://www.washingtonpost.com/travel/2023/12/15/pilots-mental-health-faa-certification/ https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/11/us/politics/faa-audit-boeing-737-max.html
None. Not a single worry. Scary stories get clicks and sell subscriptions. I’m sure there are some mental health issues with some pilots but that is why there are two up front. And except in extreme circumstances, even if they’re going through some shit, none of them want to die and take 100+ people with them.
none of them? https://abcnews.go.com/amp/US/details-emerge-after-off-duty-pilot-allegedly-shut/story?id=104247388
Seriously, Spirit was awesome for us. They helped us get on the plane when it was about to take off on the way there. But my sister took 2 different Spirit flights on the same route and was heavily delayed, while sitting on the plane, each way.
If you’re one of the first flights of the day, their ontime rate is actually very good also, you can cheaply bid for an upgrade to “big seats” in the first two rows that are like 90s style leather recliners shit airline overall - but there are certain specific situations where I would fly them
C just tells you that because she wants to continue to fly Boenings, become the female Sully by putting her bird down safely in the San Francisco harbor, write a book and play the Harry Potter video game for the rest of time
Is the new whistle blower whistle blowing the murder of the last whistle blower or is this a new whistle blow?
New. Claims shortcuts were taken in the assembly of the 777 and 787 that could result in structural failure after several thousand cycles.
Man American Airlines fucked up my flight Made me miss two days of skiing Didn’t get my bags there so I had to rent equipment Can’t get their shitty app to work right Gave me a call back because there’s over an hour wait for customer service And even once they called me back automatically I’ve been on hold for over twenty minutes I hate this company so much
And the worst part is everyone will think you're a homely poor who can't afford his own ski equipment.
Didn't realize it was both of them... The 777 is like the global workhorse. Wonder if ESA will do anything
Most of the stories reporting it only mention the 787 but a Seattle Times article says that it is both.
Alaska Airlines flights resume after being grounded over aircraft system issue WASHINGTON (Reuters) - An issue with the system that calculates weight and balance of Alaska Airlines planes, causing all of its flights to be halted on Wednesday morning, has been resolved and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) canceled a ground stop. The ground stop, which halted all Alaska Airlines departures as well as for Horizon Air, a regional carrier owned by Alaska Air Group, was instituted at approximately 7:50 am PT (1450 GMT), the airline said. It lasted for about an hour. "This morning we experienced an issue while performing an upgrade to the system that calculates our weight and balance," the airline said in a statement. Residual flight delayed are expected throughout the day, the airline said. In a statement earlier, the FAA said the carrier "asked the FAA to pause the airline's mainline departures nationwide." Shares of Alaska Air Group, which owns the airline, pared gains after the advisory, and were last up 2.6% at 11:51 ET (1551 GMT). Responding to passenger complaints on social media platform X, the airline said it was working on getting people moving as soon as possible. The FAA, in an advisory, said that flights for SkyWest, which provides regional service for Alaska Airlines and others, had been excluded from the ground stop.
Have never understood the fragile label that airlines give you because they clearly still have it ride on the conveyor and you're leaving it up to a human doing a mindless task to pay attention to a sticker. Have had a similar case destroyed.
That shits almost impossible to do. Looks like it got ran over like Fuzzy Dunlop on the Wire season 2
