Pretty sure Frank mentioned something in the first two episodes about fertility treatments. That's why they got in the fight when he said something like "They already told me I'm fine." Implying that she was the one who needed the treatments.
Yeah, they were at a dr.'s office of some sort trying to collect sperm. Hence the porn mags and such.
maybe it's just the way you worded it, but you do know that Ray killed the guy that attacked his wife, after getting the info on him from Frank, and that's why he "works" for Frank now, right?
I think Vince may have had something to do with the initial rape of Valcoro's wife. Maybe a setup to get a cop in his pocket. I also feel that this will come into more light throughout the rest of the show.
I think he is alluding to the fact that there may be more to the whole attack / rape thing than what meets the eye.
yep same here. after giving Ray the info on the raper, Frank asks "so how's your wife doing?" or something along those lines, but the way he said it made me think he knew her or something.
I feel like somewhere along the way, Ray will flip sides upon realization that he has been played and his entire life has been based off of people manipulating him, i.e. Vaughan using him, Mayor / PD using him, etc. Or maybe Ray meets his end and it is strikingly similar to the Silas character from The Davinci Code.
Didn't that paper have the info of the journalist that wrote the corruption article? It's implied that Frank helped him by giving up the rapist, who Ray then killed, but that happened before we ever meet these characters. Frank's mentioning of his wife was meant as a not so subtle reminder of what he'd done and that Ray owes him.
two completely different scenes... there's a flashback scene in ep 1, where ray is clean shaven, with short hair, and wearing a patrolman's uniform, where Frank gives him the info on the rapist, and ray asks something like "what do i owe you" and frank says "maybe we'll talk later, maybe we won't".
I think you need to qualify the statement considering there are still 5 episodes left. I can see why you would think that they may not be working, but there are plenty of ensemble movies/shows that come together well, and I am still giving them credit that they will pull it off.
Agreed, no, but I would say that given all of the masks found on the set, the car, etc. there should be some connection.
reading sepinwalls review and he pointed out that the director in that episode kind of looked like cary fukunaga. they went on to say the movie was "collapse of civilization revenge flick", or something. apparently that was a little trash talk towards fukunaga? was there bad blood when fukunaga didnt return this season?
liked the scene with Woodraugh and his man a lot the second time around. when you realize his buddy is talking about the relationship for the entirety of the convo (and how hard Paul is trying to not acknowledge it) becomes a lot more powerful. i'm pretty comfortable with 3 of the 4 characters at this point. Ani is still the one due for some big time reveals i think. not sure what makes her tick. she's angry at the world while the other three are more angry with themselves ...
yeah I think this is the point where Ray actually decides to become a cop and figure out who is behind this him being "shot" and realizing this is way deeper than he originally imagined seems like it "woke him up" and I think him drinking the water at the bar was a clue that his character has changed or I'm just reading too much into it
Thought this episode was better than the first 2, although it's still just been one massive set up to the point where I'll be surprised if it delivers.
I've honestly not found this season entertaining at all. I'm trying to stick with it but it feels like work. Probably will give it another episode.
I love how everyone talks like they're just gonna stop watching..... It's eight episodes and still better TV than most other stuff out there right now.
All three episodes have gone the same. Fell asleep the first time (maybe booze), re-watched, processed, and realized I enjoyed them. I was about to give up on VV the mob boss, but he redeemed himself. Kitsch is overacting and as I feared McAdams was not right for the part, but overall, the story has me intrigued. The scene with them chasing the sheep mask guy seemed a bit hurried/ coincidental, but whatever.
Just watched episode 3 again. McAdams is just brutal in this role. Story is slightly coming together for me. I need to quit watching on Sunday night after a big weekend.
McAdams is fine, Farrell is the best part, and Kitsch can suck a dick (literally and figuratively) - his character is so bad, they should have just left it out unless something magical happens.
I feel like somehow Farrell's dad is involved. Maybe that's what gives him bad feels towards the police department and wants nothing to remind him of it.
So Mayors wife is Russian and his son seems to be in a lot of shit. The whole family seems ripe for doing shit.
I love all the pictures of the mayor with George Bush...absolutely hilarious. Enjoying the show so far.
Maybe I missing something, but I'm not feeling it. Think the acting is bad for the most part and the dialogue is atrocious at times. im sticking with it, but I just don't see it.
I think someone else mentioned this ITT, but the story is awesome, while the acting is very average. Vaughn is growing on me, McAdams is average, and Woodrough is below average. However, I really like the story. I really like all the moving parts. I don't have a problem with them still building up for the first 3 episodes, I think the plot has been awesome. Can't wait to see how it unfolds
I did rewatch season one for the third time recently, even more amazing the more you watch it. Nothing was ever going to be able to even come close to that.
Yeah it sucks bevause this season could end up really good and it still would be terrible in our minds when comparing it to season 1
Is it first season good? No but the Louisiana setting did a lot for it. Cali ain't then same but it is still solid
Been re-watching S1 and there sure are a ton of aerial shots of the bayou used for transitions. They weren't as redundant as S2's freeway shots, but maybe that's the point that SoCal is just one mass of roads and buildings. I'm sure some reddit freak will go through and count them all. I'll bet they're about the same quantity.
