ipa's are great but definitely over represented on beer menus i need to get back to seattle and see how burnt down it is post CHAZ
Chocolate cream pie stout sounds delightful. Love IPA’s but definitely have become far too prevalent. Especially hazies. But I’ll gladly take IPA domination over a menu full of “sours.” I can’t wait for that fad to be over.
Need recommendations for dinner and breakfast in the South Lake Union area. GF and I are going tomorrow for just one night, she's donating for BeTheMatch, so not getting wild or anything
Got in town last night, had meetings this morning and now at airport on my way to Denver. Sunset last night was gorgeous. Went on a 5 mile run along the waterfront from downtown this morning. Absolutely beautiful. Holy shit at the size of the Expedia campus!
Wife (gf at time) lived in apartment on west union and I can agree with ‘south lake union fucking sucks.’ listen to nug, I don’t know the city nearly as well as he does but this is pretty correct.
In a city that's quickly losing its soul to tech and overpriced cookie cutter apartments, SLU stands out for it's shittiness. Full of brand new, plastic-looking, high-rises. The central attraction is literally the Amazon Spheres, aka Bezos' Balls. CapHill is also adjacent and super fun, but more for bars and partying than a bunch of restaurants. Fremont is my favorite neighborhood in the city. Second is Pioneer Square.
Headed that way second week in July. Will only be in town one day but I’m getting there pretty early so I will have the full day. Staying downtown in the pike place area. Going to peruse this thread to figure out some breweries / coffee shops / seafood. Going to Showbox that night
Gonna be in town all next week for work. Staying at the embassy suites at pioneer square. Any local TMB bros interested in a drink?
Just had a wonderful long layover in Seattle, culminating in a great meal at the Walrus & the Carpenter. Thanks for the endorsement Nug and Menelaus
In Puget Sound a few days ago: https://westseattleblog.com/2024/02/whales-orcas-heading-into-elliott-bay/ This is right next to where I used to live. Would walk or skateboard this park 5x/week: Spoiler
I don't knoe any vegetarian-only places, but most restaurants have plenty of veggie-friendly options. Pestle Rock is the best Thai in the city.
Great bougie Seattle evening in Ballard: -sunset beers at Cloudburst (best brewery in the city) -dinner at Pestle Rock (walking distance) -go to some live music and cold Rainiers at Tractor Tavern (walking distance) (or any of the fun bars along Ballard's main ave)
Bale Breaker is great, but they're out of Yakima Looks like they do have a taproom in Seattle, though Second on the list is Holy Mountain.
Sorry… breech of etiquette. I travel there for work a lot. Ballard is one of my favorite neighborhoods to kick it in.
Ballard's cool, def best place for food and drink. Can be a little too pretentious for me sometimrs, but so many options. Fremont and Pioneer Square are my favorite 'hoods. Bopping around Pioneer Sq for drinks and then grabbing a cheap Mariners ticket for the beer garden is :chefskiss:
