Drove an hour and fifteen minutes to check out a 13 piece nautilus machine set and rubber Troy dumbbells to 200. They guy scored it for pennies at a foreclosure and has decided he wants to do motorcycle stuff instead of gym stuff. He neglected to tell us he’s let the shit sit out in the weather since June and the exposed metal is rusted, the pads are all fucked, and he decides a little krylon here and there would look good. It was like seeing a gently used Corvette that someone took to a Mexican chop shop. What a waste.
Think I'm at 2400 meters of lunges in the last 8-9 days, my thighs and butt better be in top shape soon with what I'm going through.
I’ve got a little $20 egg cooker (Dash) from amazon that’s about the size of a saucer. It’s not UL listed which sucks becuase I’ve gotta hide it as soon as it’s through cooking. It makes awesome hard boiled eggs though. Or soft boiled if you want runny yolks you just put in less water.
Picked up the Rep Fitness stainless steel power bar. I'll have a full review up in a couple of weeks. At the price point it will be at $299 in February, it will be very hard to beat for a SS power bar. The sleeves are also SS, which is different from Rogue and American Barbell. Also about to enter the body tempering game. I'm going to be getting a custom painted, tapered step child.
2 more weeks of moderate volume/moderate intensity then we get into high intensity and some singles. Hype. 9 week’s out.
76 lbs. Talked to the guy for about 30 minutes and as a 6'5" 350 man, the 76 lb'er is his favorite tool. It has a taper in the middle, which makes it really effective when used on a single point. If I love it I may get a 125 lb ex-wife at some point.
hensleya Any thoughts on Titan’s pro sled? Can’t remember if you’ve covered that product specifically.
Haven't pulled in a few weeks since I'm still doing these crazy ass lunges which have my legs destroyed, really encouraged by my OHP recently. Hit 115x10 then 135x 4, gonna try 155 next time and think I can get it.
I haven’t covered it, but I would buy the Rep Fitness 4-post sled over the Titan. Rep has much better quality control and I’ve had great experiences with them.
Stone Cold Steve Austin go lift at Crossfit Irondale. Some of the best powerlifting/weightlifting equipment available and some national level/strong ass lifters in there.
I think a membership on the lifting side is significantly cheaper. They’ve got an Eleiko bar and when I first touched it, it was like the first time I touched a vagina. I came both times.
Decline benching with the girl's eleiko bar. Should I say something to him. Or let him think he's skrong for once.
Try doing rotator cuff exercises on your non-bench days. Very light weights, as these are very small muscles, but they help a bunch when you initially start hitting walls on your bench.
Been eating like shit at home for holidays, need to get it together. I look like I already gained back 20 pounds
On the plus side I've made it a week without Advil. I'd been taking 2/day for a couple months from a back issue. Yes I know that was a terrible idea.
If you want a well priced football bar... http://garagegymlab.com/edge-fitness-slim-football-bar-review/
Santa was extremely good to the home gym Got a rogue ghd, z hyper, and the 28mm euro bar Now I just have to put all this shit together.
Definitely will. Traveling to Atlanta for the next couple of days but when I get back I’ll be assembling everything and putting the finishing touches on the gym. Really pumped for the new bar.
Went with the Nordic lifting shoes...was ordering on amazon so will have to return if they don’t fit well but read up enough I feel comfortable.
I’m not a barefoot advocate... my shoes have a fairly minimal sole. Was just a reference to some power lifter someone else mentioned that works out in flip flops.
First time using the shoulderok and I’m definitely a believer. I think it’s going to be one of my new favorite tools. Learning curve was very quick. Doesn’t take much weight at all.
I’ve decided I wanna do a powerlifting comp this year. Gunna try and find a nice little amateur one in Jacksonville/Tampa or wherever (live in Tallahassee) sometime after June. Not gunna cut weight or anything so how should I feel about setting a tentative goal for a total of 1050-1100 at 198? Btw this is Jimbob, coaching changes can be rough on their families as well as innocent usernames.
First off, hell yes. I think you’ll have a blast. Good call on not cutting weight. You should have 2 goals for your first meet: go 8/9-9/9 and have fun. What are your numbers now? That total doesn’t seem unrealistic.
I'd say try to hit all your lifts in your first comp being priority #1. Seen a decent amount of ppl go in and go 0/3. 1100 doesn't seem too hard but all depends on what you can lift.
Nearly had a bad situation at the gym yesterday. Working through some hang snatches my gut started to rumble a little bit. Thoight I could finish my lift before needing to hit the head. Last rep, on the way down, it seems like all the force awoke the beast inside me. It was coming strong and took all my effort to hold it in as I was I a full squat and bringing the weight back up...
after looking at a few home-made versions, i'm tempted to get our welder at work to put one together.
