the large national and multinational organizations do great work but choosing a smaller organization where 15k+ would truly change their quarter, 6 months, year, etc. would be cool. I'm partial to helping people who need food, animal organizations, and organizations who work with special needs children. I'm in regardless of what is chosen.
Why not donate to a cause that directly supports some of our own (looking at you Name P. Redacted) https://www.specialolympics.org/
I nominate: Abolish Golf Courses Let’s Nuke Phoenix both of these are run by HOOSINSC and he does wonderful work. I’m in for $50
There are some gofundmes out there for sponsoring Palestinian families and helping them get out of Gaza and I think that would be a good choice if we can find one . https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-palestinian-family-escape-gaza my favorite podcast is raising money for this one
I like world central kitchen, think we can pencil that in as one I like the idea of helping smaller charities but also think I’d rather see national groups since the board is spread all over
World Central Kitchen for sure. Maybe one of these charities that is working to curb and clean up plastic pollution. 9 Best Charities That Fight to End Plastic Pollution (Complete 2024 List) | Impactful Ninja
There is a quick two minute summary Essentially the park owners are running the aquarium like the villain from Free Willy. Neglecting care, cheap and inadeqaute food, exhibits in extreme disrepair etc.
jumping in late but if we are raising 15k, why not 5k to 3 different charities? or 3k to 5 different?
would be funny it could be tied into prior posts. Owl conservancy would not be worthy but the kinda thing that would bring something full circle. that, or anything that gets a sweet plaque with TMB's logo on it. Also anything re: homeless / those struggling with mental health.
I think 5k to three smaller charities is the sweet spot. This rings true. Yea, we will feel warm and fuzzy donating 15k to the world bank, but that's a rounding error for them. 5k to a small charity makes a much larger difference.
Their data can be a little misleading. Of course top M.D.’s at nonprofit hospitals are going to have really high compensation.
I do the Christopher reeves foundation and metavivor when I do my charity donations since my family has been impacted in both cases. I'm in.
I second this motion https://www.the-mainboard.com/index.php?threads/doing-a-fundraiser-a-school-baseball-team.185213/
if we’re looking at smaller options with a big impact, i will always be partial to nominating the magic city acceptance center. their resources were invaluable to me when i was coming out and they do even more for lgbtq youth. with the laws being passed in alabama currently, they’ll need all the help they can get https://www.magiccityacceptancecenter.org/
I think dump should have to donate $75 because he strains the servers at the rate of 5 normal posters
I am also running a non-profit(ig meme account with a link to my cashapp) that promotes anti-shrimp farming content.
shawn candy corn(hell no I didn’t donate to that) some woman taking her kids to Disney or some shit and she pocketed it Us raising a bunch for the guy who couldn’t vote and then that shit just went away Did we ever fuck over big cookie?
