I just started watching it bc I heard good things about it. I'm through 5 episodes. Does it pick up at all? It hasn't been that great so far.
The Wire is like a novel how each episode build on the other. Its about a storyline playing out over an entire series so you don't get payoffs at the end of each show like most shows do. Pay attention to the character development and interactions between them and also to what the whole point of the show is. It'll pick up this season but then slow down again in season 2 until Season 3 everything goes nuts
:curses: :curses: :curses: Here's the real G's And of course, you might as well if you see this :aero: coming
Marlo worked his way up from the corner. Omar is the hardest motherfucker ever, but I'd rather be the man callin' the shots. All he had to do is speak a name, anywhere in B-More and that bitch is dead.
Still a faggot though. Marlo was sadistic and it led to his downfall. If Stringer hadn't been so worried about his other business moves and snitched out Avon Marlo would've been dead quick. Avon had just as much pull as Marlo did for the most part but he wasn't out there just murking anybody just cuz (even though he did kill the witnesses which was bogus. Avon and Stringer were hustlers, Marlo was a serial killer
Omar didn't have to work his way to the top because he had everybody in the system from top to bottom shook. Omar just went and took whatever he wanted, and if you had a problem with it you could talk to Omar about it.
These two were scariest to me <IMG src="http://www.hbo.com/thewire/img/castcrew/character_season04/chrispartlow.jpg"> <IMG src="http://www.hbo.com/thewire/img/castcrew/character_season04/snoop.jpg">
Just because you are bitchmade and can't handle how Marlo handles his business doesn't mean he is a faggot. Stringer was a total bitch, all he wanted to do is make the money and get out the game. Marlo never wanted that, only reason he even got into the real estate deal was because he couldn't go back to the game. I love Avon too, he's the shit.
my point exactly though, Stanfield wasn't even the one to be afraid of, seeing Marlo ain't no thang, having snoop and chris show up to your door is a different story
Snoop and Chris show up at your door and you don't answer that shit, you run out the back and keep running or you might as well
there's no way i won't. i'm on the episode where chris and snoop dropped their guns and their nailgun in the water because they got pulled over because herc was looking for that lost camera
yea cuz you're in the streets, right? And since when does wanting to get money and get out of the game make you soft? Lemme guess. You're a suburban dude that listens to rappers talk about being on the streets just cuz. 90% of cats that hustle don't really want to hustle but they don't want to leave the game because they make money. Stringer was using the drug game as a means to an end, like most smart hustlers do. If he wasn't so grimy he would've made it legit. Marlo had no vision/plan/ etc. He just wanted power and killed whoever he didn't like. Say what you want but there's a reason he only had power for a short time.
I absolutely a suburban dude, don't listen to rap very much though. I was just messing about calling you that, tounge in cheek. Regardless Marlo was my favorite character and thought Stringer was a Bitch.
Stringer built the largest drug empire in the city and saw a way to become more powerful than just a drug kingpin. Marlo saw what Stringer had and killed everyone to try an get it.
I downloaded the whole series based on the opinions of several people on here and elsewhere, watched the first episode and just never got started the second. The first one was pretty bring tbh.
The best of the wire season one doesnt start until like episode 6 or so so be prepared for a little bit of a haul. But seasons 3-5 make up for the boring first half of 1 and the awkward turtleness of season 2
why the hell did they take the show to the port in season 2? does season 5 revolve around the west side?
Yeah, but Season 2 has McNulty at his all time best and the best nude scenes of the series. Thus, I liked it.
The show is supposed to show all the facets of a dying city, and the shipping industry is one that a lot of East Coast cities relied upon that is now leaving town. The wire makes a point to talk about more than just the drug game, hence the newspaper in season 5, carcetti running for mayor in 4 and all the other stuff. Plus season 2 introduced us to "The Greek"
On 2nd watch I loved season 2. I think they did that because of some movie shooting schedules and stuff. I don't think mcnutty was supposed to be available at first.
GOAT! i started watching it during the summer when i heard about it from TMB, i ended up watching the entire series in about 2 weeks.
