Just watched the second episode and I'm all in. It's Westworld but with better character development. The story seems more interesting as well. I think this has some potential
Season 1 and 2 were great but it lost me during season 3. Still plan on watching this though since I enjoyed the first 2 seasons of Westworld so much.
Watched the first last night, and definitely intrigued by the concept. It's like Westworld and Ready Player One had a baby
Shows and movies like this hurt my head her world’s timeline is changed when they made contact? Is the future world’s timeline changed? Is the timeline changed every time contact is made? Seems like it would be a constant reshuffling Spoiler The girl without shoes at the very beginning was Alieta, right?
I am so confused on timelines Spoiler So there’s the normal timeline without the future contacting the past the “stub” (I think is what they are calling it) with them sending the instructions for the headset back and Flynn using it but then the timeline where they make contact with then local meth king should technically be a different timeline than the stub where they first contacted Flynn’s bro. Right? They said each time they make contact it creates a new stub So then flynn should not have been able to find about about Lev’s family in the same stub as the one where she is in the “sim” as the one where lev’s brother is doing the pharma trial. I am probably just over thinking this Amazon show
This show is good, but the brothers southern accent is so shitty. Also this episode had a lot of dumb arguments that went nowhere between characters to fill time.
I think maybe a bit of overthinking / the show is only showing us the Flynne Stub. I do think your 3rd statement should be true but I guess it's possible that since they made contact with him inside a SIM (as opposed to Lev's team texting Burton IRL & Flynne physically making contact inside the peripheral is what "making contact" equates to) that possibly that doesn't create a new stub (just trying to rationalize what we're seeing on the show). For the Lev's family thing I don't know how to even approach rationalizing that considering Lev's family was killed back 70+ years before and he obviously doesn't look like he's 100+ years old in London. May be some kind of human cloning involved (if that exists then the bald RI lady probably would have just cloned her muscle guy so idk if that exists), but also I guess the best explanation I could give here outside of cloning stuff would be that Lev already went back and did what he did right when they made the connection because he knew it created a new version of his family in that stub (that he doesn't like knowing exists so he always kills all of them in new stubs) so the death that Flynne saw on the internet was the new Lev family in her stub. And the Lev we're seeing is from "the original timeline of life".... i don't even know if that makes sense, which reminds me of every discussion in the Season 1 thread for Westworld
How quickly does Amazon typically renew shows for additional seasons / is this show planned already to go past 1 10-episode season? I feel like 4 episodes in they've done some fantastic character development but we really don't even know what the end game is for one side and wrapping up in 6 episodes could be tough because of there being multiple stories and timelines involved.
we are probably putting to much thought into this show I still think they fucked up the timelines based off the rules they told Flynn - I guess they could be lying
These timeline shows and movies always hurt my head is the jackpot a stub timeline or normal timeline? Is the timeline flynn is in contact with future London itself a stub?
I'm assuming anything that happened that we're seeing the long term effects from in 2100 were from the original life timeline before peripheral/stub technology existed. Which makes me think that it's entirely possible that Lev's team may have been trying to possibly use the RI tech to mess around in Flynne's stub to do something that may prevent some/all of the jackpot from happening. There was something very big that they tried to steal from RI in the first peripheral using Burton's body that could make an anti-jackpot scheme possible. But the Jackpot was necessary for the formation of the 3-pieces of toast situation to happen where RI is one of the 3 powerhouses that "rule the world" hence why they are so hell bent on nipping Flynne's stub in the bud.
Right. Wilf’s world in 2100 is timeline A when they make contact with Flynn and her brother that becomes A.1 no one from timeline A was ever contacted so it is the normal timeline but if lev went back and killed his family in the stub, shouldn’t that have created its own stub? If he killed them after the contact with Flynn and her brother, that would be A.1.2 if he killed them before that contact was made, it should be A.1 and Flynn is A.1.2 BUT the contact was actually made before he killed his family. They created the stub for the pharma trial so it had to have been created before lev killed himself and his family. either Flynn is in a stub of a stub, we haven’t been told the truth about timelines, or they fucked up the story this is also not taking into account other people from 2100 having already gone back in time and thus creating other stubs before Flynn’s stub my guess - the jackpot timeline is itself a stub so therefore the 2100 timeline we see is part of that stub. I think this actually is only possible with ignoring the rules we were told, but like I said it’s probably over thinking an Amazon prime show too much
I can't remember the country club patio conversation verbatim but he said something about how he had it done, which is the same way he does it everytime, and I don't think he made contact required to start a stub. Like the hiring on the deep web = I don't think that counts as making contact either so there are definitely ways to manipulate a stub without making contact that would begin a new stub. I think that's most likely going to be Prime's way of skirting the idea of there being 1000s of stubs for the show
Well episode 7 was fantastic and finally got us to where we know what everyone in the show is trying to accomplish. The inspector is a good character but I thought she’d be tougher than the black chick
Its all psychology. The inspector is used to asking questions and got shook being put on the defensive talking about her daughter. She is also used to having leverage over the people she talks to, and director isn't someone that is afraid of her.
I’m guessing / hoping that the inspector doesn’t actually buy into the hammer talk and turn bad. She’s a cool character as long as she stays a 3rd party. was ready to despise deputy Dewey boy until he went back in the house. Good for him. The sheriffs stories he was telling sounded kinda dumb anyways
Meh. There is a post credits scene btw great idea for a show. Just not executed very well. So many things they should have put more emphasis on and instead had side stuff they spent too much time on
I'm still enjoying it but I need to find a lengthy Reddit post or some article that explains what the fuck going on
West Virginia Westworld More overly convoluted and utterly dull garbage from Nolan. Deport Jonathon back to the UK and stop green lighting his shit once and for all.
I actually enjoyed the season but thought there were 2 more episodes coming. Definitely needed to get to the meat of the plot earlier in the season given it was only 8 eps. will watch next season to see where it goes but not gonna have it on my most anticipated shows list for whatever year it’s released
Not sure many people will care, but I did enjoy the first season, but it’s been cancelled casualty of the strike https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/the-peripheral-canceled-amazon-no-season-2-1235570179/
That's too bad, was looking forward to season 2. Enjoyed it more than Westworld, although season 2 of WW sucked donkey balls, thus lowering the bar ...
