Breaker Breaker for gulf coast style seafood, Mi Barrio is good Mexican, but I think Pollo Primo is my fav around here.
Across the street from my office. We’d be able to eat as many of those sweet michelin-favored arepas as you could handle.
Never had Pollo Pollo but I might humbly add Las Brasas. Took over the old Burnt Fork spot after being in that weird shack on East Howard
It was technically in Smyrna, but I just had an exceptional breakfast burrito. It was called J's snackland and was inside of a Mexican laundromat. Super nice people too. Right by the battery. Spoiler
I usually only go to Heirloom on weekdays bc it’s by my office but today’s special looks ballin’. They also have fried okra which I highly recommend any time it’s on their menu (which is seldom).
The Westside Stride has been awesome. Tons of cool local vendors, open containers, great ABB cover band playing at Northside right now. About to go crush Fishmonger and attempt to walk home. Wish they’d do this more often and close this section of Howell Mill for a farmers market, etc. on the weekend.
Might be my favorite new restaurant. We’re pretty regular. Tonight we did gumbo, rock shrimp ceviche, chefs oyster selection, and Caesar with blackened grouper.
Going back to Georgia Boy in mid November. I am convinced that Michelin only went to Southern Belle, so as a show of support that's where we are going for our anniversary dinner.
Yes, go there you’ll love it. Great food, drinks, vibe and awesome people running it. Doing a fundraiser event there Thursday November 9th from 5-9 for Rescue Me Georgia, a rescue shelter that I foster for from time to time. Cool raffle prizes and dogs will be there for adoption and fostering. Fun fact about Rescue Me Georgia, one of the two ladies that runs it is the wife of Bob Rathbun, Hawks announcer with ‘Nique.
Here's my review of Breaker Breaker... For context, I'm originally from Pensacola, my parents are from Pensacola, theirs are and so on, so I may be a bit more picky than most regarding Gulf Coast style seafood. The Good: - Most importantly, almost everything on the menu tastes great. - They have solid cocktails - They absolutely nailed it with the batter they use to fry the fish/shrimp/etc. The Bad (Mostly what they don't have that I feel like they should): - They are using Atlantic or deep gulf shrimp. The local restaurants around there all use bay shrimp as bay shrimp taste much, much better. - They don't have fried crab claws on the menu. Almost every seafood restaurant along the coast has them on the menu. They are one of my favorite foods, so this made me very sad, as only 1 restaurant in Atlanta that I know of sells them. (Big Easy Grille) - Great cocktails, but they don't have Bushwhackers. You can find them on the menu up and down the gulf coast. Pensacola claimed for years that the drink was invented there (it wasn't), so the drink very much has an identity with the gulf coast.
Big Easy is the shit. We get blue crab claws there every time (also grew up eating gulf coast seafood)
I had some at Spring House near Lake Martin when Rob from Helen was still the chef that were done ceviche style marinated in lime juice and cilantro. Incredible.
Family's been hit with stomach bug, and I got 2 tix to MMJ at the Fox tomorrow. Listed them on CoT but would love to sell to mainboard brethren. $100 for the pair: orchestra center row HH if anyone is or knows someone interested.
They’ve been running some crazy specials lately. Pork belly tacos, smoked pork fritters, bbq gumbo and tteokbokki. And fried okra is becoming a menu staple. But more importantly, Texas brisket chili is back, baby!
I really love how they switch it up with limited menu items but I also love when some of them become permanent (or semi permanent). yellow Hammer and hot chicken are amazing. So are the Brussels.
Who has taken uber home from the airport recently? Boomer mother is coming tomorrow and I can't pick her up. Did they move all Uber to the North side of the terminal? Downstairs? Need crisp and exact directions. Last time she gave a random guy in a black SUV $50 to take her to my house
You have to walk through tunnels in a parking garage to get to the rideshare lot. It can be confusing first time that you do it but just look for the signs.
I took one in late September from the international terminal and the guy didn’t give a fuck, picked us up right outside baggage claim. It was also an Uber black suv so it was like $80.
Get the ball at the 1 and we roll out an offense without pitts or bijan for 5 straight plays. Fire this dude into the sun
