My Pixel 5's charging port wore out so I had to upgrade. About a week with the 7 and I'm not loving it. The unlock with the face recognition and thumbprint are clunky and not as consistent at the 5. Battery life is about the same but it charges slower. Can't get WiFi in my house in parts that I can on the 5. Hopefully the more I get familiar with it and the more the adaptive features learn, I'll like it more.
I like my 7, outside of the fingerprint reader. I do have a screen protector, though. Wish they would have just kept it on the back
Same. Have told my wife the back was the best place. Read better and I could I could get my phone out of my pocket with my index finger on the scanner so the screen was unlocked as I brought it to my face. I get it's a logistics thing but hope they can one day figure out a way to put it back there.
Mine is pretty solid but I don't use a screen protector. Nothing will ever compare to the FP scanners in the back of the phone though.
In. price and trying the form factor were primary reasons to buy but included bumper, option to do cellular, power supply made decision easier. with the layoffs this week, change to SD3 and CEO's comments, I expect software improvements to fall off somewhat on these. Would you confirm if video out from the USB-C port works properly RockHardJawn39
any hdmi or displayport display should work if you have a dongle or adapter. even a non-thunderbolt dock should work. edit: even some monitors have usb-c input now, which would negate need for adapter. etc.
I've been bitching about the pixel 7's fingerprint scanner since I got it. Thought it was the screen protector, but it was user error. I programmed my 4 slots to 1 finger, thinking it would be more likely to hit 1 that way. Must have confused it because it's worked every time since I changed to 1 slot per finger.
Funny I just did the opposite. 1 finger per slot wasn't working all for me, maybe 1 try in 5 attempts would work. So I did all 4 slots and it's better. Still sucks though, about 50% success rate. It's really making me dislike the phone bc I can't unlock it efficiently.
The face scan works much faster than it did on the P5, so that ends up waking the phone before I can get my finger on the scanner.
That makes me think that the answer is to just clear and reprogram until it works. I was very diligent about moving my finger placement with each touch.
I have a Pixel 6 and find that the fingerprint scanner works better when your finger is a little moist. If your finger is dry, it's a lot less reliable.
video out does work on the Surface Duo. great little device but the way the OS handles the hinge is a little bothersome. it only matters when you span one app across both screens but here is a depiction of amount/width of pixels that are missing when you do so.
I’ve never used it for that. Mostly 2 excel sheets at once or twitter/TMB on one side and work on the other
SIAP but if you do Android Beta, just beware that the latest update tends to reboot as you sleep. Luckily haven't missed my alarm...yet
I was reading about the Apple VR thing today and came across this. No way this is true, right? Apple hasn't had contact pictures or visual voicemail? I know they are always behind but wtf. Someone correct me if I'm reading this wrong. iOS 17 will now get contact “posters,” allowing iPhone users to design a custom image to appear when you call someone or receive their call. iPhone users will be able to personalize their contact card “poster” with a photo or “memoji” of choice, as well as text. A new feature called Live Voicemail transcribes a caller’s message in real-time, so users can decide whether to ignore it or take the call. An upcoming check-in feature makes it easier to keep friends and family alerted to their safety. And a tool called NameDrop lets users share their contact information by holding two iPhones close together.
Didn't think I'd be this bummed about losing RIF. Been using that app exclusively for reddit content since having a smart phone. Maybe staying off it can help me kick some other social media platforms.
Reddit is dead to me at midnight. I'll never go back. Sucks because I work a job with a ton of downtime but I'm now trying to do more productive shit with my life. Spoiler I won't
Do we have a couple consensus picks on the best large-format phone under $600? I have a Pixel 6 Pro in my cart now. I don't mind buying used. I have a 6a; wife's 3a XL is finally dying (I tried to get her to give it up two years ago), and it appears we missed some big sales. I'm not necessarily against something that's not a Pixel, but don't really want a bullshit UI or something that won't get updates after a couple years from now. No interest in iPhone b/c I don't know how to fix any of that and, well, she isn't interested in searching solutions when things go wrong. TIA.
Pretty amazed at how well the 4 XL has held up. Battery life is still solid and everything runs smoothly. Camera is still awesome. Google definitely has a loyal customer in me going forward
Ended up doing a 6 Pro for like $325 through Amazon. Wife won't notice a difference, although I did do Amazon in case she has the issues with fingerprint/signal/battery that some have. Expected it to be a good bit bigger than my 6a, but it's not really.
My Pixel 6 has been the absolute worst phone I've ever had with dropping calls, not being able to make calls, etc. Been Pixel user since the 3. Anyone else had any issues with a Pixel not doing basic phone functions?
It's bout to have a problem with me hucking it out the window the nex time I can't just make a phone call. Thanks for the info.
My calls have been A+ for like 10 years. Can you toggle on/off wifi calling or volte calling or whatever the setting is?
I've turned all that shit off and back on multiple times. It works most of the time, but when it doesn't it's frustrating.
I’ve never had an issue with phone calls on the 6 or 7. my only issue with the 6 was Bluetooth connection issues.
