I like the concept too...but again just wonder how useful it ultimately is. I think the one miss at quick glance is that i think it should Switch (heh) to a smaller form factor as an option. Like Nintendo DS / i can fit this in my pocket size. So it can go from home console, to tablet, and down to phone size. Granted I make that sound simple but when you "go mobile" I would expect it to be more....mobile. The removable controller from the tablet is sweet and I would absolutely use it on flights. I just dont know where else I would. Some of the examples in the teaser are just funny (the NBA one for example). But Nintendo has a history of getting some things right that i dont anticipate. But we'll see. The nod to using it as an eSports platform absolutely has legs.
The whole concept of making a full console portable is exciting. I'll be interested to see how truly portable it is, for example if you need wifi (like I expect it will) then that will be limiting factor.
well he's playing it on an airplane...so either yes, they are saying anywhere with WiFi (which on an airplane is silly...the wifi sucks) OR you can load stuff to it in an offline way. Which would be really cool. I agree full portability is exciting I just wish it got down even smaller...again, big enough to fit in my pocket. Plus will it have any touchscreen control capability or will it always need some physical controller? I'm ok if it is the latter since touch controls kinda suck for "real games" but just curious.
That's my concern. I did notice there was the one part where he puts something into the portable device. I don't know if that was a game cartridge or a sync'd up memory device. I couldn't really tell how big it was, I guess it could fit in your pocket in pieces?
Definitely looked like a game cartridge actually. Very similar (if not the same) to the current DS cartridge.
1. That dog is never getting attention again 2. How big is that display? Because I'm not seeing local multiplayer gaming like that actually happening unless it's at least 11 inches
interesting. So the full HD games are all going on the little cartridges maybe/hopefully? Cause that would be cool and long overdue.
that part's been known for a while http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkai...ame-cartridges-instead-of-discs/#62e145966350
100% going to buy this. This is geared towards people who don't have hours on end to sit and play at their dedicated gaming PC, so most of the knocks on this machine from "experts", means absolute dick to me. I don't care that it doesn't run 4K 60fps. I want to be able to play Mario Kart, Zelda, and apparently some Bethesda games (really happy to see some 3rd party support from Bethesda and 2K Sports showcased) on a portable device. I'm traveling around a decent bit for work, so this will be perfect for me to pack and take with me, as long as my kids don't bitch and complain about that (in which case, I'll buy multiple consoles).
That would be fucking incredible pricing. I'm sure they'll release about 30% of the demand once again. Sigh.
First Nintendo "console" I've been interested in in a long time. I'll be keeping my eye on this and the launch titles. Looks promising.
same. not that i haven't bought the last two anyway. The most impressive part for me so far is it getting a copy of Sun and Moon.
I am interested in this but the controllers seem way too small. Hopefully i'm wrong on that, or that some full size controllers are developed for when playing at home. The Zelda game looks absolutely incredible though.
Nintendo has always had this thing of making weird looking but comfortable controllers. I'm just going to trust them here.
Good point. I remember seeing the first commercial for the NES and thinking "how the fuck am I supposed to play a game with those things"? I was coming from the Atari controller at that point. this fucking beast
Part of me really wants a portable gaming system, haven't had one since GBC, but i'm not sure i would get enough usage out of it. This may be the one that makes me pull the trigger though.

A strong Nintendo is great for the industry, I'm really excited for all the fans of the Big N. Haven't watched the presser yet but from what I've seen on Twitter, they've absolutely nailed the price, and the fact that its only 6 weeks away is fantastic. Now if only they make enough to satisfy launch demand (which they won't because this is Nintendo), all will be good. I won't get it right away, if ever, but i'll be watching closely.
that Zelda trailer looks pretty incredible and the new Mario game looks even better. Those two are system sellers for me, so I'm preordered. Hopefully there will be other games I'll want to play on it, but most of what's been shown doesn't appeal to me much except for the inevitable Mario Kart. I wish Nintendo would pull their head out of their ass on Metroid.
Not thrilled with the price of an extra dock or a second joycon set. Docks are $90. Joycons are $70. And was kind of hoping the games wouldn't all be $60. Still, gonna kop BotW, Mario Kart, an extra joycon, and pray that they put out a Mario Party.
Hot take incoming If Nintendo would focus on hand helds and software the world would be a better place
