RalfBully I just booked your boat guy for the Amalfi coast. He’s charging me more because I said you referred me so thanks for that.
Have to be godfather at a baptism in italy in July and might need to swing through Rome after those pics. Been too long.
Mt Rainier National Park (foggy/rainy day, could not see the peak) Seattle ferry to Bainbridge Bainbridge I think Copalis Beach Hurricane Ridge, Olympic National Park Ruby Beach, Olympic National Park
Also I stared at this log thinking it was a raccoon for a good 3 minutes Should have included this pic on the first post. The rainforests are so cool.
Those are gorgeous (and I definitely scrolled down to the bottom of the last picture hoping you were going to tell me what kind of animal that was in it...I am disappointed)! Can't wait to get out and do some hiking soon. Just booked a place in Fayetteville, WVa to do some hiking around New River Gorge NP in late May. Also crosses off one of the last two states east of Mississippi I haven't spent time in (other one is Vermont).
If it's any consolation I'm still holding out hope it was a raccoon Btw the flight from Seattle to Denver is incredibly scenic. Flew right by Mt Rainier, the bitterroots, and the Tetons
I'll have to look into that. The GF loves hiking and we will only have 2 full days there so might have to wait for a secondary visit.
Checked seating around midnight for my 5 am flight and there was still an empty middle seat Plane is mostly boarded and then a lady sits right next to me and goes "hopefully they don't show up!" pointing to the seat beside her that I knew was booked Wanted to Dennis Reynolds her (23 second mark)
do we have any united/star alliance nerds i'll be flying to ORD from international airport in SAS business to connect to MSP, will I have access to the United lounge in ORD its difficult to figure out. might get Tortas Frontera anyways instead
Traveling to Stockholm for work next week and finally deciding it’s time for new headphones anyone have recommendations for noise canceling ones that are good for travel? I typically like in ear but if there’s over the ear that’s too good I’ll check them out thanks
It's so good for airport food. I get frustrated whenever it makes more sense to fly into Midway (being located at a SW hub it happens often), because it means I don't get it.
Im using our capital one lounge access for the first time at the Rome airport. I did not realize it was free food and alcohol. This might be the best day of my life
I'm in Canterbury and happened upon what is apparently a legit Greek Cafe, in that most people in here are speaking Greek, it doesn't matter if you are actively talking to the cashier someone will cut in line ahead of you, and the pastry is basically an excuse to serve you a quart of honey. It's delightful
Oh, I'm flying out gate next to the new Amex Lounge in Atlanta? Can wait to get some quality breakfast, coffee, and hopefully take a nice poop preflight
The Rome airport is rough though. There was one lounge we got upgraded to by Turkish for flying business class but all the priority pass lounges were total trash. Lounge life is great if you are in the right airports.
It was nice. Not sure it was anything crazy superior to Delta Lounges. The food and drink were pretty standard. Def didn't meat the hype from a chef standpoint...maybe lunch and dinner is better. The outdoor terrace was pretty sick tho. I'll give it that.
Wife and her sister going to London in late Sept. Looking for hotels under $300 a night. Have a pretty good list of food and drink spots but always looking for more. Probably some on the cheaper end because sister in law has been hitting up Michelin star restaurants all over the world this year and I'm sure they will try to do one or two of those so need some cheaper stuff to balance.
I stayed here, pre-pandemic: https://www.tophamshotel.net/ It’s in a quiet neighborhood in Belgravia, and a couple blocks from Victoria station for the train. Easy walking distance to Buckingham Palace, etc.
As a Dad of a 4 year old who has taken my TVs and all my time, I'm trying to catch up. Watching Joker on my Mac.
Just got home, amalfi coast was amazing 3 nights at hotel villafranca in Positano, best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. First 2 pics from our rooms balcony followed by pics from the rooftop pool Their Michellin restaurant experience, la galli, was incredible Finally, spent our final 3 nights at hotel Margherita in Praiano. Found it in this thread, forget who stayed there. We signed up for a cooking class where we spent an hour and a half walking around the town picking herbs and vegetables that we used in our food and the class was in the hotels restaurant. My favorite experience of the entire vacation Also took a day trip to Sorrento. I liked it, but I’m happy we stayed in Positano and Praiano. When we go back to amalfi, we will stay in Positano the entire time I think.
Also, I got an ear infection early on in the trip. First day in amalfi i asked our hotel about a hospital and they had a doctor to our room within a half hour. He wrote me a script for an antibiotic and charged me 100 euros. Pharmacy had it on hand. Extremely jealous of their healthcare, I’m dreading going to a medexpress here this week
Let me know what part of town they are staying in or wanting to go out in. On the higher end I would tell them to look at Trivet near london bridge; one of the better meals that profiled english cooking I have had of late.
I’m in a men’s choir that performs there about 3 times a year. We’re performing with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in September this year.
If you fancy going a bit further afield in Kent, there’s a Crab Museum in Margate that my wife went to this weekend that’s a hilarious combination of facts about crustaceans and also how capitalism is destroying the world.
