Pretty bizarre. Great album, just not sure what happened in marketing / roll out. Maybe not having one big single
Read an article this AM that Mitski played The Ryman and had some country pieces. Writer's opinion was she sounded amazing. The crowd sounded awful though. Calling out, talking loud at slow/quiet parts, and viewing porn on their phones.
the rollout was much quieter and didn’t follow a not-very-amazing record like this one did. music is all kids and the tik tok now
Been following this girl on IG for a while. She writes some really cool stuff that I want to hear full versions of. This is probably my favorite she's posted. She released her first studio recording today. This one sounds more like a Lizzy McAlpine track.
I haven't bought a physical music release in.....15 years? I've sunk all this time into building my digital collection like I want it. Part of me wants to acquire a turntable and collect some albums on vinyl. I miss the album art and I'm intrigued by the setup of putting on one album at the time and listening. But I question whether I really want to go down that path.
the audiotechnica tables with the built-in pre amp are a nice entry-level table. served me well until i got more into the weeds. i’ve spent hours digging through the used crates at papa jazz. good way to build a collection. snag the occasional new release (they got expensive) and buddy you’ve got a stew. years later you’ll find yourself broke but with an impressive library
eh. you can stack books in all sorts of ways but you can easily warp records if you don’t care for them properly
Got into it probably a decade ago for the same reasons and spent a few years collecting some of my favorite albums before mostly losing interest, but it's still nice to put one on every once in a while and I imagine I'll get the itch again at some point (always been fond of collecting things). I'll echo larry's thoughts on the audiotechnica, inexpensive and it's served me well.
I know the needle eventually wears them out too. How many plays are in a standard quality vinyl record? The conservationist in me hates the thought of wearing something out every time I use it.
enough to where you don’t need to worry about it. just make sure your needle is in good shape and practice not touching your record with your hands - just handle the edges and keep your oils off the vinyl
for some reason spaced and thought it wasnt out until the summer, pumped now that I realized its out firday
The National and The War on Drugs co headlining at the Hollywood Bowl but it’s scheduled on a Monday night
walked into my favorite coffee shop this morning wearing a Protomartyr sweatshirt and they put on The Agent Intellect on my recommendation hopefully the next wave of customers enjoys
