They are zombies. The nuance is so unimportant to how they behave and their role in the show. Virus, fungi, bacteria, really? None are real, so just different ways to try to explain similar creatures and be “different or fresh.” FYI, this is not a complaint. I understand why zombie and monster experts may want to classify them differently, but it feels very unimportant to the type of genre that this is. I turned it on and instantly thought, oh a zombie apocalypse show. ...and that is not a bad thing
Daniel Ocean why do you always argue over pointless shit dragging threads down. Did you know words have different meanings?
so do the infected turn into giant mushrooms if they don't eat people? i'm curious about that dude they found in the tunnels attached to the wall
Sometimes, the Cordyceps fungus can kill the host it inhabits rather than parasitically invade them. When this happens, the host dies, yet the fungi continue to grow. So that person got infected but they ended up dying from it so the fungus just grows outside the body and on the walls and whatnot.
The nuance does make a difference especially when it comes to how you get infected. Do you turn if you’re bitten, or is it exposure to the fungal spores? It dictates how our characters have to interact to survive. I also have a minor in biology, so it’s super nerd shit for me beyond “it’s just a show”
It is still a zombie genre show. I think that is all anyone is saying. I can make up a zombie-like creature that is not in control of it's mind that gets infected from a pill. Still a zombie.
I have no idea if you’re being serious or not. But, if you are why tag me to continue an argument that you see as pointless? The infected are no more “alive” than a zombie. In the show spores won’t transmit the virus. Also I’m not discussing anything that doesn’t have to do with the game/show. I’m really fucking tired of this shit. This is a message board. It’s meant for discussion. I get shit for doing that. I got some asshole following me around threads telling me to kill myself when I’ve discussed being suicidal and literally hearing voices telling me to kill myself. If you don’t like my posts ignored them and move on. Fuck.
the show runners have said that there won’t be spores in the show. also Ellie knows she is immune because she was scratched and doesn’t start turning so it’s not just spores that turn people.
Right. I am gonna create a zombie show where you have to suck the zombies dick to be infected, doesn’t make them not zombies.
I do have you ignored. But threads get bogged down and make no sense when you argue over pointless stuff. West coast dbl is the perfect name. I don’t condone anyone telling you to mill yourself that’s fucked up, but sometimes you just like to argue for the sake of arguing. Anyways, try to understand that vs always getting the last word in. You have to realize that right? Anyways fuck the dude who followed you around and told you that shit, that’s fucked up but doesn’t relate here. You’re right it is a message board, if someone calling you out on your shit bothers you then ignore them. Have a good day.
Did anyone else watch the full gameplay trailer while the show was going on? I did because I never played the game. It’s crazy how they nailed some shit
I think it’s great that the game creator is also a producer on the show. Allows things to be pretty spot on, vs other shows who could care less about the source material, ie The Witcher
I hope that they don’t go the route of the walking dead and game of thrones were the show runs past source material. I do think they can make both games run 2 seasons each 3 might be stretching it 4-6 seasons would be a good run with the source material they have.
They said there might be more seasons but season 1 will wrap up the first game so they could maybe stretch the second into 2 seasons but the show creator said he refuses to stretch it out just to have more seasons.
didn't even make it one episode before people are posting about future bad guys super big losers on this site
Hello yes I never played the game, always wanted to - I really enjoyed episode 1. I don't care what we call them.
Yea i dunno why the fuck they decided to randomly have tess make out with a zombie wtf. The rest of the episode was fine. Although this one definitely felt more like a video game.
I like things others don’t, but do people like this because it’s good/interesting? Or because it’s a good adaption of a game you like? idk, it’s just an unoriginal zombie apocalypse to me. It’s not bad by any means, but it isn’t anything new. also, if they need a battery, why have they not been looking in all of the cars and trucks they are passing? That military truck likely has multiple that work if it rolled up to city hall recently
I didn’t realize the actress that plays Marlene is the same actress who voiced the character in the video game.
I'm not sure I've seen any zombie apocalypse shows (not movies) that were good. If you compare the first two episodes of this show to the first two episodes of Walking Dead it makes TWD look really bad. It may not be a brand new idea but it's done really really well through two episodes. Same general concept as Dark... time travel cause & effect isn't some new concept in cinema but that show built a story around it that was better than any other show I'd seen it done before (looking at you, Lost).
I am not a TWD fan but I enjoyed the beginning episodes. It is what came next that ruined it. I absolutely loved All of Us Are Dead (highly, highly recommend for those who love Asian content). I haven't watched Kingdom but heard very good things. I also think there have been some very good zombie genre films (including the classics), although some of my favorites are the parodies like Zombieland and Shaun of the Dead. I am really enjoying this so far, but I think the thing setting it apart is the visual world they created and how good of a job they have done in emulating video game lighting against apocalyptic backdrops. The show has been solid dramatically against that backdrop.
I completely forgot about Kingdom. That was a really good zombie apocalypse show. But even though that show and this one are technically in the same genre they are so so different. GF watched episode one with me and did the whole "oh man is this just another zombie show?" and after last night's episode she's hooked. It may not be a shiny new genre but that's not gonna stop this from being fantastic television.
28 Days Later is the bar, imo. Kingdom and Train to Busan were both great recent ones, and this looks like it will be up there with all of those. I've loved everything about this one, especially the sense of hopelessness and dread that Mazin is so good at. Druckman and Mazin made an encounter with a small amount of "zombies" work so much better than 99% of zombie encounters in any recent media. I'm currently playing through the remake while watching this. I'm trying to stop about where the show stops every week, but that's going to be tough to not just power through.
Just finished Ep2. The open was pure nightmare fuel…I was on the edge of my chair with my hands up to my mouth pretty much the entire time. Glad they go with slow burn tension rather than cheap jump scares. Amazing episode
