I've just started watching after hearing about this show maybe six months ago and I'm loving it. There are four seasons and, as it's a french show, it's all subtitled. I know that'll be a big turnoff for a lot of people but it hasn't been a problem for me so far: it helps me stay focused on the show and it probably keeps me from binging through an entire season in a couple of days... as all of the reviewers/producers/actors all say the show is best enjoyed as a slower burn. It's lauded as the best french television show ever and one of the best spy shows of all time. I think it's incredible thus far. Anyone heard of it? Anyone feel like watching it?
it's on both amazon and itunes but they charge. same with something called sundancenow (sundance has its own streaming service?). that has a free trial: https://www.sundancenow.com/series/watch/the-bureau/2536461?season=1 i torrented.
I'll probably torrance this and start over the weekend. Sounds interesting. Big fan of foreign shows, too
i don't know where/how you usually torrance but for whatever reason, the blu-ray rip for s1 doesn't have english subtitles so i had to grab them from subscene. and to make it more obnoxious, i had to correct the timing of them through subshifter. both were easy to do but it was obnoxious. if i could do it again, i'd just look for a webrip considering the show is on amazon and itunes.
BTN. They require a membership, but it's pretty easy to stay in good standing on there. I'm not sure how to get any invites, as I've been on there 4 or 5 years and don't have any
So something compelled me recently to hit up AMC+ or whatever (which Sundance is a part of) and I realized that this had been languishing in my queue for a year or so. Been binging it the last several nights and thoroughly enjoying it. Big fan of the lead, and the casting in general. Shit is excellent slow burn le Carreish spy thriller material.
Keep seeing people recommend this on Twitter but haven’t figured out where I can watch it. I have DirecTV, Apple +, Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu but seem to not be smart enough to figure this out.
Between your cable subscription including AMC, the existence of a premium streaming bundle (AMC+) and a sundance specific streaming service (Sundance Now) things are definitely such that it's fucking confusing trying to answer that question for you If you have an AMC app that lets you login via cable provider, you could check that first. But if it's not there, then... ya know (and to reiterate, I'm watching it via AMC+, which includes sundance in its bundle)
so yea I'll finish up s5 tonight probably, but - this shit is for the most part outrageously good. Like there are a few things that happen plot wise and you're like "oh come on" because of the convenience and whatever, but in general it's just an incredibly meticulous and thoughtful look at modern intelligence work and tradecraft, and the politics of operating in the clandestine world. Highly engrossing.
I actually quit watching in s4 when Spoiler the main guy was cut loose in russia At the time, they hadn’t planned on a s5, I think. Is it worth getting back into? I thought it went off the rails a bit after an incredible first couple of seasons.
I don't blame you for bailing but it stays entertaining up to the end for me. I think a lot of the shark jump/off rails thing kind of comes from Spoiler the whole double-agent/fake double-agent cycle of madness... if you get over that and just accept it the rest of what's going on is pretty interesting still
So apparently there's just like a pile of international espionage stuff on AMC+/Sundance Now? I'm on to Shadow Lines from Finland rn, which is about Finnish spies trying to save their homeland from succumbing to either Soviet or American interests in the post war 50's. There's a supposed American character who has far too noticeable a euro accent of some kind, but other than that it's been pretty damn good.
