Muss had ruined relationships with the big boosters that funded his recruiting classes and transfers and pissed off everyone around him. He lost his best assistant coach last year in Argenal. Dude is hard to work for and work with. I’m grateful for what he did here and loved traveling all over the place for some of those runs in March. This was never gonna be long term though, he was always going to head back to the west coast. Just figured he’d wait until his daughter graduated before doing so.

odds they hire beard? i'm already not a huge basketball fan, but i probably watched ~20 games a year and still probably watched 12-13. it will be pretty easy to just not do that if we decide to go with the auburn coaching hire philosophy. like just find someone who didn't beat the shit out of his girlfriend. not asking for much.

Football is trash - loved BP when he was here and if he was going to be given another chance it should have been when we hired Sammy but now is a little too late imo. basketball - no one cares when we suck and it shows after this season. Everyone was pretty much “meh, it was a good 4 years run” and moved on… baseball - our last hope at something good but DVH is getting old. He needs to win one now or he probably won’t win one ever. But we have been consistently contenders the past decade so it will help us with some good candidates when he goes. HY has fucked up every major hire here so far. Sure, the sports no one cares about are doing well but again, women’s (insert random sport here) isn’t driving school attendance or sports revenue. gotta have a big money booster push hard for the department and put someone who gives a shit about athletics in the big boy sports to compete and HY is obviously not the guy if history has shown anything.
The baseball infrastructure is so good that they be able to hire almost anyone they want when the time comes
We did a catering order for the team a couple years ago. Their director of ops called me and said please triple mark his food to make sure it is correct. Said it would ruin their entire trip if anything was off. Said Muss was a huge dickhead. We fed a lot of teams and that was a first

the muss hire was good. pittman hire was bad, the extension was even worse, and his handling of NIL has been an unmitigated disaster. he needs to be fired before it's time to hire a new football coach.
i mean muss left he didn't get fired. if a coach is expecting an extension and raise after missing the tournament then yeah they shouldn't come here.
Not buying it because I don’t think Hunter is smart enough, but there’s rumblings he did this to force Muss’ hand and either commit to the program or find a new home because of his flirting with all these programs this offseason. Yeah, I’ve been hearing Beard has been in the works for like two weeks from one of our former players family who is now in the NBA but is still close with our top bball NIL family. Wade is the fallback plan and if he doesn’t get our job he will end up at Ole Miss
