Sam telling him to stay down in that moment and listen to the crowd after Roy did it for him earlier in the season is the kind of stuff that makes a series with a stupid premise like this so much better than it has any reason to be. So much of that kind of stuff throughout the season to show character growth up and down the cast.
The third episode had some of my favorite moments. The first couple episodes were good. I became all in somewhere between "I'm sorry, I have a hard time hearing people who don't believe in themselves" and Roy reading A Wrinkle In Time to his niece and realizing the little girl really is him.
Hard for me to rate any episode that doesn’t feature Dani Rojas as perfect but it’s pretty darn close.
Nice play Nate. How do you feel? I..uh...just...uh...so many emotions! Kinda like getting your first pube, am I right?
This is the best post in this thread because like Roy, Corch is the angriest player (poster) on the pitch (tmb) but he’s gotten slower and softer as he’s aged.
THEY MADE THIS SHOW OUT OF A FUCKING CHARACTER IN A COMMERCIAL it’s truly astonishing. Giving the character a real motivation to take that job alone is a stroke of genius
Was listening to a Chi Bears podcast with Coach Beard and they asked about the Roy Kent -> Roy Keane similarities and Beard was like: “Yeah, I lived in the UK and there was a player who was always pissed off and wanted to murder everyone, I loved him, so as we were writing the show, we used ‘Roy Kent’ as a placeholder knowing it was too obvious, but as we got deeper into it, we never changed the name, then we realize, we have a show, and we never changed the character Roy Kent to a name not exactly like the player we based him off of.”
"I'll give it a shot here... You are thinking about buying your first house? No, not that. Okay. You... just realized your dad might be a little racist?" "He's in his 60s and he's from South London. Of course my dad's a little racist." And later... "Does my face look like it's in the mood for shape based jokes?" "No Roy, it does not. But, in my defense, it rarely does." That whole diamond dogs scene might be my favorite of the season.
I can’t remember who mentioned this but found it funny that this character was created for a commercial. I went back and watched those commercials. And the transformation from that to what ted was in this season is amazing. I’m really glad they reworked it. The athletic had an interesting read on the character and Jason mentioned ted is actually a combo of his HS basketball coach, Roy Williams and I think one other person.
Also I just read something that said it’s only going to be three seasons which is kind of depressing, or maybe the chance at 30 amazing episodes.
I'm thru three episodes now and this show is great. We need more people in this world like Ted Lasso.
Just rewatched the monologue at the end of episode 3 from Trent Crimm, The Independent. “And though I believe that Ted Lasso will fail here and Richmond will suffer the embarrassment of relegation, I won't gloat when it happens. Because I can't help but root for him.”
"Stop messing with Nate! I don't know which one of you I nutted because I don't see well at night anymore, but that goes for all of you!"
