he streams on twitch and it REALLY illuminated how obscenely talented the guy is. the stereotype that he was the autotune guy missed the bigger picture.
he's the auto-tune guy, and hes actually a good singer, and also he is the head of a rap group with one of the biggest anthems in the south ever. he also probably has the highest level of guest appearances ever. he always hit.
He seems like a great guy from what interviews I've seen. I know he's had a tough road professionally being taken seriously and financially. Pretty open about it and I pull for him.
I watched some YT video of some old head musician shitting on DJ Khalid. He shit on him saying the verse everyone knows him for is someone else singing it -- T Pain.
Rappa Ternt Sanga still fucking slaps. I got that shit and bumped it regularly in HS. Try to give it a full playthrough annually.
They also went on to shit on him as a "producer" saying he never produced anything but made friends with people that did. Obviously idk enough and I don't want to pretend I care.
anytime I get the ad-lib earbug of "DEE JAY KHALID" the chorus to 'All I Do is Win' follows it in my head.
Used to run football camps for a sports agent in Atlanta, and the pro guys would sometimes bring out friends to hang out. Most of the time, the friends would just sit to the side and eat from catering. Sometimes, a guy or two would come out and throw footballs with the kids, but it was usually just the pro guys spending time with them. Well, there was this short funny guy wearing sunglasses and a big full-brimmed coaching hat, who worked every day of the five day camp, and spent every moment doing drills with kids and entertaining them. At the very end of the final day of the camp, he took off his hat and sunglasses and revealed that Coach T was in fact, T Pain. The kids went nuts and bombarded him asking for autographs. He signed one for everybody (including kids’ family members), and there were 500+ kids there. I had no idea it was him until then, either. He came there with Thomas Davis and I just assumed that he was maybe just somebody who he played ball with in high school, or something. Great guy, obviously.
he’s an awesome guy from everything i have read remember a story about how he met future’s brother years ago at a party and he introduced himself and said how he would love to work with future and the brother essentially told him he was a no talent loser and future would never work with him. really made me sad because of how good of a person he is he’s definitely a bit typecasted because of the auto tune shit but he’s insanely talented and everything he does rocks
War Pigs cover was great. The Tennessee Whiskey cover’s timing for me was unfortunate after recently hearing this one for the first time.
I've booked him I think 5 or 6 times at this point. He's always been cool as shit and would do a damn concert when he was only booked for 2-3 songs. Can't emphasize enough how much of a rarity that is in this business.
Saw him live last year and he put on an incredible show. 2nd best Nappy Headz song was FLA which also still slaps 850 when I represent, Tallyho Florida President
It’s also funny that they’d reject him when it seems they all use auto tune themselves. Right? (I don’t pay attention to todays rap too much)
Me and a coworker got drunk in Chicago last year on a work trip and found out he was having a concert that night. Needless to say 5 min later we had ticket and were on the way to the venue.
Given future's camp it's the least surprising thing ever sadly. I was trying to think of who has been the easiest (most fun) to deal with and T-Pain is definitely way up there - he may be the GOAT on that front in my personal experience. Rae Shremmerd and Rick Ross were some others that jump out as just being cool as shit and basically throwing concerts when we were just expecting appearances and a song or two.
Pretty sure we booked him for St. Patrick's day one year and he unprompted just strolled up in an all green tailcoat and top hat.
that's life is the best cover. absolute banger. stay with me also great. tennessee whiskey probably my least favorite. edit: war pigs cover rules too.
