There’s a Street Fighter television show in the works. According to Deadline Hollywood, distribution and production company Entertainment One has signed on to support the team behind Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist, a web series that debuted in 2014. The project has the full support of the game’s developer and publisher, Capcom. The TV show will be based on the storyline first introduced in 1991’s Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior. It will feature classic characters like Ryu, Ken, Guile, Chun-Li and M. Bison. Entertainment One’s president, Mark Gordon, will be personally involved in the project. His previous organization, The Mark Gordon Company, was recently bought out by Entertainment One. Its past credits include films such as Saving Private Ryan and Speed. The company is currently in production on Grey’s Anatomy and Quantico, among others. “After a long search, guided by the team behind Assassin’s Fist, we are delighted to be partnering with a company with the outstanding TV experience of Mark Gordon and eOne. They have the credentials to help us launch a faithful adaptation of Street Fighter as a major TV series,” said Yoshinori Ono, Capcom’s executive producer on the Street Fighter series. The Assassin’s Fist was a 12-part series focusing on Ken and Ryu originally produced for Machinima and distributed on YouTube. The series originally started as a Kickstarter project in 2013, before a private funding source was found and the campaign was canceled. The complete series is available on Amazon Video to rent, as well as own on DVD and Blu-ray.
