On New Years Eve heading into 2008, one of my best friends who is an Auburn fan wanted to bet that within 20 years Auburn would overtake Alabama heads up all time in football. I explained that Auburn would have to win 13 of the 20 to overtake Alabama’s 5 game lead. He was so confident (and drunk) that he wanted to bet $20k, since in 20 years “we’d both have money”. So I took the bet. Of course, I let him out of it after like 3 years, but only after having him admit how dumb he was to make such a dumb bet. We’ve gone 12-4 since that bet.
