Season 4 just came out on Netflix this month and Season 5 will start airing on PopTV (?) in January. This show is a collaboration between that network and a Canadian one so it's pretty underwatched until Netflix but it's fucking hilarious. Anyone seen or heard it? This was the S1 trailer: It's the most similar show I've seen to Arrested Development (even in premise) though it's not quite as good. Still, it's one of the few shows that makes me laugh out loud when I'm just watching it alone. It's pretty damn clever and all of the characters are fantastic. Episodes are only about 20 minutes and there's just 12 episodes a season so it's a really easy watch.
Really like this show and just finished S4. Glad it focused more on David as he's far and away the funniest character. The Levy family are Canadian treasures.
Its going to suck losing another brilliant show. Glad Moira got an Emmy nom but Daniel should get something for the writing.
Started it as well and just finished all that were on Netflix. Wife loves it and I don’t know why I just never watched it sooner but it’s awesome. Between this and Letterkenny, Canada is pumping out some quality comedy.
Just started this show the other night on a whim and I'm on S2E3 and it's one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. The writing and acting are brilliant, I love it.
I felt like the finale was a bit meh. They needed more time to wrap up properly, it got really rushed.
Started this as m nightly comedy. Three seasons in I love the show but hate the whole family except David.
they are horrible human beings. Is that the point of the show? I am on S3E4 so they are barely trying to become members of the community.
I don't get that at all. The whole point of the show is they were always good people but the money and excess ruined them and now that its gone they are thriving as humans.
Again go back and watch the first two seasons. Everyone except David are condescending assholes. They think they are better than everyone else. Like Dump said they are the Bluffs. I think they are written to have people originally dislike them and see their growth. Last night episode was John helping Tyla at the dinner, David helping Stevie with the funeral and Alexis acceptance of Ted dating the MILF. None of that would have happened at the start of the show. The show starts with them being too good for the town. Every episode shows that by the way you they dress and how ridiculous it is compared to the rest of the town.
Yeah I guess if you are watching at the beginning you wont like them but you grow to like them like the characters grow into being decent people and by the time the final two seasons happen you root for everybody including them which was what my initial smh was about
The show is great. It is well written i laugh as it constantly. But to say the family is “likeable” originally misses some that makes the show great and extremely well written. Taking assholes and creating sympathetic characters is difficult.
How is David not a condescending asshole like the rest of the family in the beginning? Especially since he is the child that takes after Moira the most. The whole Blouse Barn storyline plays this up. The writing that made the character growth so believable is pretty phenomenal since they were all awful people in the beginning.
I guess to me his instant connection to Stevie set him apart from the rest. He just seem more sympathetic. Another thing was his “wine” conversation with Stevie made me like him. Honestly I think it’s his connection with her that makes him more likable from the start. Again I just started this 2 weeks ago so everything is fresh to me. You all should do a rewatch and you’ll see that I’m right.
Yikes Daniel. Anyways, finished the series last night. I wish they would have stretched the last episode into a couple, it felt rushed. Did you all watch the bonus behind the scenes episode? You could tell that the cast legitimately liked each other.
It helps that half of the cast was a family and they brought in a couple old friends to do a show with them
Really liked the finale. Wish it would have been longer. All thing I didn’t like is just a personal thing. I like the finales with “future updates” I’d like to know about all of them and how everything turned out for them. Such a great show and I am kinda glad I was able to binge the whole show at once.
