Chapter 19 Spoiler This Victra/Mustang moment is super poignant and makes me think Victra and Sevro won't be reunited in this life . I hope she gets her pound of flesh before their end
Chapter 40 Spoiler Oh no Sevro, what a gut punch. I mean I knew he'd find out somehow but hoped it'd be from Victra
Ohhhh, this is something we hadn't discussed a lot and we'd never gotten much back story on Quick. It was a great side story.
Chapter 56 Spoiler My goodness if Darrow gets out of the Rim while knocking out Fa, Lysander and Atlas AND getting the Braves back, king the man now. Won't be that easy though, undoubtedly something's going to go horribly wrong
Spoiler Sevro made them see some sense and Diomedes has agreed to turn the hierarchy upside down, Darrow be scheming
End of part 3 Spoiler whooped that ass and then the wisdom to let Volga end Fa, you’ve grown Darrow. Now use that hybrid form on Apollonius pronto
I have no idea why I rated Golden Son 4*s on goodreads my first time through. I’m injecting this straight into my veins like heroin upon reread.
Chapter 84 Spoiler Lysander you fucking twat. This is so much worse than killing Alexander. Well done Cassius
Finished Spoiler Whew boy, what a work of fiction. Love that he tightened in on Rim and while I'm eager to know what's going on with Mustang, Victra, and Mars, the Raa/Lune/Darrow action was spellbinding. Not sure I've hated a fictional character as much as Lune since Dolores Umbridge. No one in history has love the smell of their own farts more than him. Congrats man, you're a worse sociopath than Atlas. I'm desperate for him to meet his end. I'm also low key pissed we still only have rumors of Diomedes fighting prowess, let's see it happen in front of us Pierce. Hoping these genetic genocide cubes turn out to be rubbish.
I can’t put this thing down. So damn good. Forgot how awesome this universe was. Starting Chapter 54 Spoiler Ready for Darrow to start kicking some ass. Really interested to see how the whole Dioemedes/Darrow thing plays out w/Atlas & Lysander (even though he didn’t have much of a choice it felt a bit off that he was like okay sure I’ll be your pawn)
I’ll admit I was a little hesitant to start these based on some of the comparisons to Hunger Games, etc. I’m glad I did anyway. Crushed the first one this weekend and about halfway through the second. I’m traveling this later this week so I’ll probably finish the first three by the end of the of week. Fun reads. Spoiler Sure seems like Roque is about to be a problem. And I’m sure the Jackal too.
The first one definitely has some Hunger Games-type feel to it but it expands massively in book 2 and beyond.
Finished. I think I'm going to have to start a re-read from the very beginning again now. Need more. Spoiler Lysander needs to die.
Just finished Red Rising. 7/10. While I enjoyed the concept and can envision how it sets the series stage, it did feel a bit rushed and a little juvenile at times. Looking forward to Golden Son.
It really picks up and takes off in Golden Son. I’ve watched and listened to a ton of Pierce Brown interviews on this book tour. He talked about when he was trying to sell Red Rising, Hunger Games and Divergent type books. YA fantasy ect we’re all the publishers wanted. So he tried to use that concept to back door the sci-fi series he really wanted to write. It makes all the sense in retrospect. And it clearly worked.
I've heard a version of this where he says the initial idea for RR was born of something he wrote for a friend, that he never expected to see the light of day to the public?
Fin Spoiler So Gaia should know Ly has the bio now? I get Ly thinks Dio might not have known about it but no chance Gaia didn't.
Started a re-read of Red Rising Spoiler Had no intention of doing so but the thought of Darrow and Sev sitting in Cass's room watching the holo of the Institute together got me
Just finished Light Bringer.. Spoiler Wow, that was really good - 2nd half especially, I couldn't put it down. Diomedes may be one of my favorite characters now. I really did not enjoy Lryia's point of view early on in the other books, but she grew on me a lot in this one. Wish we'd have gotten a little more from Viriginia / Victra / Pax / Electra back on Mars, but it wouldn't have really fit the flow of the books either. Oh fuck Lysander, I was really hoping he'd turned the corner with Cassius but fuck man. That hurt, kind of felt it coming with Darrow and his conversation beforehand.
Holy shit I don't know how I forgot about this (Dark Age Spoiler, about 60% through (Chapter: Justice of the meek)) Spoiler They cloned the fucking Jackal. I honestly don't know how I had forgotten about that. Even when they were wondering who was pulling Lillith's strings because she isn't the type to be the leader of the syndicate I still didn't remember. Threw me for a loop all over again. Although Publius being so self righteous to Mustang and then having to put the collar on and eat the brains of the blue was pretty great. Fuck that little backstabbing pixie. The book is so fucking good.
Volcanos in Canada have been leaking Helium-3. We are Mars https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2023/10/27/world/earth-core-helium-leak-scn/index.html
If you have spotify premium, all of these books are free on audio book. Can someone give me an idea of where I left off (behind spoiler) Spoiler the populace was rioting against the Senate and had cut off the head of one of the characters and capture Virginia. Riot was lead by one of the Jackal's lieutenants that we all presumed was dead. [/spoilers]
Hail Reaper Pod released a long interview w Pierce Brown, discussing Light Bringer. About halfway through. Pretty cool so far. Obviously tons of LB spoilers, so dont listen if you havent read it yet
