it all sounds good except the part of co-op play. i'm sure some will love it, and i get the point, but personally i like to fly my nerd flag at half mast and dont wanna be in a public setting trying to catch a zapdos with 20 other geeks all on their phones cheering.
I've gained about 1.5M XP in this event so far...I had a stack of eggs and grinded like crazy this weekend. The Meijer parking lot always has 10 mons in there at once. I think I went 5 times, using an egg to clear out before I went in and after I came out each time.
Haven't played in like a month. Raid boss thing seems fun but Im waiting to see how the normal gym is recieved before I start investing time again.
Still tryna fill my dex, don't really mess with gyms because 1 of two things happens. Either the gym is so stacked I don't have a chance or the gym is so weak I lose prestige points for beating it
" LEGENDARY POKEMON PASSWORDS – Niantic shared they will be giving away passwords to those who were very active in the gym system to give them a chance at catching legendary Pokemon at a later date. " I think that's pretty lame. the whole reason i didn't do gyms was because they were impossible to even deal with before due to the high amount of cheating involved and the fact that some spoofer would take a gym immediately after you got in there, making it pointless to waste your time for a measly 10 coins. Now i gotta wait for all the spoofers to get first crack at legendaries? freakin lame.
Gyms being Pokestops now is really nice. You also no longer have to collect gyms each day, you just get the coins when your Pokemon is returned to you. the TMs are an awesome gamechanger. Raids sound interesting at least. Not sure how well they'll work in smaller towns and cities, though. there's also a new kind of ball called a Premier Ball that you're given upon beating the raid boss in order to catch it so you won't have to waste your own supply on it.
They were using programs to manipulate their GPS location, so they can attack/defend as many gyms as they wanted, on top of spinning as many pokestops and catching as much as they wanted while sitting in their room.
can't remember if i read it in the release itself or not, but apparently the raid pokemon is very hard to catch after you beat them and have a high tendency to run. so that'll be enjoyable to deal with...
additionally they could use the map trackers to spoof to all the best pokemon and get unlimited tyranitars and such and candies to fully power them and make it very difficult for normal players to have a chance at a gym.
Couldn’t get #PokemonGOFest tickets? Trainers worldwide will still be able to participate in rewards unlocked at the event. Stay tuned.
they added spawns today, I've noticed 2 new ones right around me. I might be able to top out at 7 on the screen at the same time now. will be nice for events going forward. speaking of, is Seel part of this event? the thing never ever spawns in my city and the only way I caught wild ones was with the Water event but I've seen them a few times this week at my house and just caught one. can't tell if they messed with biomes or if it's part of the event (it shouldn't be). good event, though. really solid XP and I've nearly caught enough to make another Typhlosion for fun. got some solid Growlithe spawns as well, will be able to make an Arcanine, and scored a quality Swinub, just gotta hope for the right moveset. hopefully the next event will be maybe Fighting/Electric, would like to make another Machamp. will be interested to see how raids work and how frequent TMs are because that basically means I'm set for a long time with the game as I have perfects or near-perfects of most any major attacker or defender. some have great moves and others not so much but TMs will change that. e: there's a few Niantic employees on the subreddits these days, one has already confirmed you will get a new move when using a TM (meaning like for a Gyarados which has Bite and Dragon Tail, you will always get the other move, you won't re-roll into the same move). this is really awesome news as far as Quick Attacks go as there are very often just two and Charge Attacks often three so those become 50/50 shots. I'll be interested to see if they expand the moveset pools going forward or if TMs will just be quite rare, like an evo item.
my house is now a spawn point, which is real nice. had a corsola pop up just now, and had a bunch of the fire and ice ones spawn last couple days just sitting here. also real happy they converted the bar down the street to a gym from a pokestop. i frequent it for a pint or two and it'll be great raiding that sucker while enjoying a brew and chilling. does anyone know if the new gyms can be lured? would be nice to use the 3 i got for hitting lvl 30 during this event there.
Caught/Evolved everything that spawns in the event (Charizard, Typhlosion, Arcanine, Piloswine, Dewgong, Ninetails) and hatched myself 2 Chanseys, enough to evolve a 88.9% one into a Blissey.
I'm beyond fed up with what I'm getting out of 10k hatches. Just been a steady diet of Suodowoodo, Gligar, and Mantine.
the rng gods have been good to me lately with 10k egg drops i always have 1-2 going, sometimes up to 4 been more hit than miss i'd say too
The new STAB attack and defend multipliers are going to shake this game up a ton. Double weekness and getting hit with a stab is like 2.6x's damage against your mon
Gyms are up at least some and raids are active. Also fire and ice was extended a day. https://www.forbes.com/sites/insert...aids-are-going-live-as-we-speak/#6f2d6f0a5405
update is crazy: - search bar on Pokemon screen. no more scrolling forever to find your mon. you can also type in evolve and everything capable of evolving (enough candy) will pop up. - saved battle teams (unconfirmed but likely). no more reforming the same team over and over. - Pots/revives on team formation screen. no more exiting out to apply heals. - Legendaries are here. Looks like it will be a raid thing. Does not appear you will see them as gym defenders. Will need a special raid ticket to fight them.
STAB reduced from 1.25 to 1.2 Super Effective increased from 1.25 to 1.4 Resistance changed from .8 to .714 Immunity changed from .8 to .51 STAB + Super Effective: 1.68 Double Super Effective: 1.96 STAB + Double Super Effective: 2.352 Double resistance: .501
it's going to fuck with the gym meta heavily. from what I'm reading STAB+SE (the most common combo, think Vaporeon vs Flareon or Jolteon vs Gyarados) will do more damage now than it used to so we will be more powerful as attackers period. Donphan and Ursaring with Counter/Close Combat suddenly become Blissey/Snorlax killers (moreso). some of our beloved defender staples are probably not long for this world. now that CP doesn't seem to matter and you can only have one and we've now had 2 events recently with Lapras involved it's going to get risky to put a Dragonite in a gym because even a 1k Lapras with double Ice will absolutely destroy a 3k Dragonite.
I will be interested to see if you can catch legendaries in the wild outside of raids. Also can they please make unown more common or a gym boss?
huh? everything currently mined from the apk suggests they'll only be in raids. there's a special kind of raid ticket for them.
I read that they'll raid rewards via a code or for those whom participated in gyms a lot but the raid bosses themselves will be superpowered regular pokemon.
That last one seems to be the difficulty/rarity rating scale for raids. Screenshots of Tyranitar with a 4 rating seems to suggest that 5 will be left for legendaries. Yes, normal raids will be jacked up regular pokemon but you won't just walk out your door and have a legendary pop up, they're going to be raid exclusive unless they give them away at an event. There's been changes made to notifications and stuff as well, I'd bet on them pushing stuff out when legendaries pop up so people have a chance.
The search feature is actually fucking awesome. You can search by name, by family (meaning with a certain command you'll return all Bulbasaur/Ivysaur/Venusaur), by CP, by CP range (great for finding prestigers), by nickname, by pokemon name, by ability to evolve (this will be amazing for mass evos), by HP/HP range, by Type. if they gave us the ability to save battle teams they'll have addressed a couple of big player complaints over the last year.
