Jesus Christ that car was driving way too fast I’m filled with rage. Of course the replies are just blue checks saying driver is fine. My god.
Got hit by a jeep while on a bike ride earlier. Didn't die. I knew this would eventually happen because Columbus, Ohio drivers might be the worst in the world.
Didn't really do any significant damage from what I could tell. Just some scratches on the handlebars from it flipping over and the chain came off. The seat was knocked crooked too.
Ohio. I don't think anything is wrong but these 2 ladies who saw it happen called the cops so we filed a police report just to be safe in case I wakeup tomorrow and feel like something is hurting. I was riding in the bike lane which is on the left side of a two-lane one way street. This girl was driving with her mom and slowed down a little but she didn't have her turn signal on as I was going by(she either turned it on as she was turning or after she hit me to protect herself but she definitely didn't have it on when I was behind her). She turns left and goes across the bike lane and hits me. I went over my handlebars and across the front left side of her jeep. I started yelling at her until she cried and then the cops showed up a few minutes later. They said they didn't even know the bike lane was there but she wouldn't admit to not using her turn signal at all or using it late when the cops were present.
Ah yes mr big brain chimes in. Safe driving often requires driving slower than posted speed limits due to road conditions. Only reason the guy stopped was his car’s safety system it seems.
Man glad you are ok. That sucks and sounds like you were lucky. I have had multiple people I know, one that was close to me, that ended up in caskets. In Oregon, bike lanes have the right of way when you are turning in a vehicle. So even if a person has their blinker on, they need to yield to the bike lane. Also it sounds like like you probably have a neck or back injury and should contact an attorney.
Any residential area with street parking obviously has a higher probability for children and pets. And every parked car is a blind spot. This situation is my nightmare and why I (and I assume just about everyone else with common sense) drive defensively through these areas. Cuz I never want to be the person that hits a family pet. Let alone, a child. So he might not have been speeding, but he was driving too fast.
Even if you just have a 20 minute commute, that's 40-50 min/day. Almost 3 hours/week. Almost 150 hours/week. Think of all the hobbies you could be doing Spoiler When in reality you just shitpost more and make your own bomb-ass coffee
Probably for a lot of industries, but not all. I'll sell a kidney before I go back into an office again with any sort of regularity.
Law firms are definitely moving back towards in-office, but I know a handful, like myself, that have gone WFH and not going back.
I’m back to 3 days at the firm. I do not mind it but wouldn’t want any more than that. Wife has been WFH for 6ish years and it drives her crazy at times.
WFM but have to go to the office three times a week. Wife drops me off and I walk the five miles home and it feels fantastic don’t want to bike in Nashville because I like being alive currently
Of course. Does that disqualify me from commenting on the general trend in WFH vs in-office? Should I preface everything I say with "I realize I am in an incredibly fortunate situation?" Get your likes off by putting words in my mouth
I worked from home for about 2 years, back in the office 5 days a week now. Pros and cons for me. I'm more detached from work when I'm off. I felt like I was never off when I worked from home. I still check email but I don't end up on 2 hour calls on a Saturday. That was my fault for not handling it better but that's just how I am. No office line at home protects me from myself. As for commute, I honestly don't mind it. It gives me 30 minutes to zone out to a podcast and I'd never be able to do that at home. I do miss not being around the house all the time for random tasks or people coming by but thankfully my wife is home most the time and handles that stuff.
Woman Tries To Cover Up Fatal Hit-And-Run With Moose Fur By Jason Hall October 25, 2023 An Alaskan woman is accused of using moose hair to cover up a fatal hit-and-run accident that took place earlier this year. Spoiler Chelsie Erickson, 32, of Delta Junction, was charged with criminally negligent homicide (class B felony), as well as tampering with physical evidence and failure with render assistance at an accident scene (both class C felonies), on earlier this month in relation to the death of John Emerick, 47, also of Delta Junction, on August 29, DeltaWindOnline.com reports. Janell Erickson, 60, who was identified as Chelsie's mother, was also charged for tampering with evidence. An investigation into Emerick's death was aided by the Alaska Department of Public Safety's Technical Crimes Unit in Anchorage, as well as a tip sent to state troopers, according to the Alaska Department of Public Safety. Emerick was reported to have been seen walking along the shoulder of the Alaska Highway prior to the Fairbanks Communications Center receiving a 911 call from another person who claimed to have accidentally struck a deceased individual lying in the roadway while attempting to evade debris on the road. The caller said they didn't see the deceased individual -- who was reported to be wearing dark clothing -- prior to striking them. Troopers found multiple pieces of plastic matching a damaged vehicle at the scene and vehicle fluid along the shoulder of the roadway, leading to speculation that the victim was struck on the shoulder of the road, rather than the lane in which they were found, according to the criminal complaint against Erickson obtained by DeltaWindOnline.com. Troopers obtained information from Google and located a person driving in the area at the time of the crash. The department received a report from a person who claimed that Erickson, who was intoxicated and crying at the time, told them she'd just hit a moose in that area around the time of the fatal collision and needed to have her pickup truck repaired after the alleged accident. Erickson admitted to being in the area, but claimed she had hit a moose that ran off into the woods and hadn't reported the incident while being interviewed by troopers. Data obtained by troopers from AT&T confirmed Erickson's presence in the area at the time of the fatal crash. Troopers were unable to locate the suspect vehicle as Erickson claimed she couldn't remember the towing company or repair shop where it was transported. Troopers later located Erickson's 2014 Chevrolet Silverado locked inside a detached garage, which was blocked by an inoperative pickup truck, after executing a search warrant on October 17. The Silverado matched the color of the pieces located at the site of the crash and had been partially stripped with its front radiator, grille and hood missing, as well as its passenger side airbag deployed. Apparent moose hair was also found in the engine compartment, which appeared to have been sprinkled on the area, but not embedded in the front portion of the truck consistent with a moose strike. A moose mount, which troopers suspected had its hair pulled, was located on the wall of the detached garage. Erickson reportedly applied for a passport to fly to Mexico approximately two weeks after the hit-and-run took place, according to troopers. really expected to post this in the Canadian Headlines thread, oh well
Good lord maybe call the police instead of follow and laugh if you see someone clearly drunk and swerving across lanes. I feel terrible for the truck driver but nothing they could do.
I agree she should have called the police, but it ain't like it would have made a bit of difference in that situation
Most likely true, but not sure how long she was following her before deciding to film it for a laugh.
We don’t know how long they followed her before the crash or whether they had already called the police.
