Brief interruption from what should develop today, but thought this was worth sharing: A heat burst associated with a collapsing thunderstorm in northwest Iowa/southwest Minnesota very early this morning brought 80 mph winds and caused temperatures to climb from 64 degrees to 82 degrees in Jackson, MN between 3-5am. Good write up from the Sioux Falls WFO on the event: http://www.weather.gov/fsd/news_20170516_heatburst Anyways, back to the storms today. Can see a nicely defined dry line bulge developing in the Texas Panhandle. The leading edge of that bulge is probably where the greatest threat of any tornadic supercells should kick off later this afternoon/evening.
shit really popping off in the east panhandle of TX heading into W Oklahoma. Those are some healthy supercells
That was me. I swung by the other day to mention poor New Mexico didn't get any love after out doing itself last week. I've been in orientation all day so haven't been able to look at shit today. Saw there is a pds watch though. Anything really pop yet or just radar indicated stuff?
Haven't seen any photos of anything on the ground, but there were a few that were radar indicated and looked close.
Wheeler, TX going to take a direct hit. Large and violent tornado has been reported and is rain wrapped.
Should be looking at a few buildings from the Elk City tornado Thursday. I'll post some pics if anyone is interested. Also, Day 2 Moderate got me feeling some type of way
my uncle took this yesterday just north of hoisington, shit quality but its dual naders on the ground
I just had a conversation about this with a college kid the other day. He was adamant that under an overpass was safe so I literally had to pull up on my phone why it wasn't. I'm amazed that people still think like that
Yeah, it's amazing and I don't think enough ppl in position to change the thought process (nws or tv Mets especially) do enough to dissuade.
