I haven't watched the British version at all, but this was the first "original" episode for this series. I guess the first did a lot of the same things the original first two episodes did. Good to see that it being original meant it got better and not worse.
This part threw me, the series is set in Chicago, is it not? Yet the boyfriend had to get the gay kid Islanders tickets and wanted to know which game he wanted to go to.
yeah made no sense to me either. they def say they are in chicago like 5 min later but def ask him which islanders game he wants to see and he picks edmonton i think.
They also reference the White Sox as well. There was some other part in a past episode that confused me with the NY/Chicago setting as well, but can't think of it. Remember now. A subway terminal said Harlem on it.

It's also about a 8 to 9 hour drive from Long Island to Toronto or Chicago to Toronto. How would the boyfriend have left at 12 or 1 in the morning and been back the next morning? Consider me stumped.

Pretty solid show so far... My only real criticism is Emmy Rossum's accent. She talks normal half the time and then tries to put on a chicago irish accent and its just bad.
Also I remember seeing Steve and Fiona meet at the L (pilot episode?) and there were Wabash and Kimball signs in the background... That and the opening scene of the pilot episode showed the sears tower.

Just watched all of them. Pretty good. Great writing/acting but I just dont seem to really give a shit about any of them which is weird considering I'll still watch it. Best part of it is how they do different "Previously On Shameless" bits with Macy
I agree it was the best. I think the show is really starting to find its stride. Some characters are stronger than others so who the episode focus will determine a lot as far as how good each episode is I think.
