I got mine in COVID for fun. Wouldn’t want my kid to drive it every day to school and what not. I don’t like it on road trips. I have a short drive to work now and already jonesing to get a third car so I don’t need to drive it everyday.
Yes, my 392 is my daily driver. I have a Grand Cherokee but I think I've put 50 miles on it in the year since I've had the Wrangler. When we do family things on the weekend, we always take the Wrangler bc my 5 year old loves it. We drove it to NC after Xmas. We have 2 Grand Cherokees but the Wrangler is always the go to. It's just a fun ass vehicle.
My wife recently went to a lady's beginner's off road class. Was supposed to be super chill and nothing crazy. She was going to take the TJ but wanted to be cool so she took the 392. I wanted to kill her when she sent me these pictures. It took 2 Jeeps and a tractor to get her out. The guy that owns the place said it was the most stuck he'd ever seen anyone there in his 17 years of owning the place. He gave her a t-shirt.
Two wheels got destroyed while spinning in the mud that had small gravel in it. The outer beadlock ring is supposed to be all black. The wheels were spinning so fast in the mud that it stripped all the paint off smh.
Took it to the shop, they had to pull all of the skid plates bc mud was caked under them. It cleaned up though. Just had to balance the wheels bc all the weights got ripped off in the mud. It was fine other than that. These are from our NC trip. Zoom in on the sign in the last one lol
I thought he was going to do something really cool like turn around via spin and just drive back up the hill nonchalantly. Nope.
I have to move soon and am wondering if anyone has put their jeep up on one of Uhaul's auto transport trailers. I'm kinda worried because I have the xtreme recon package with the 35" tires and not sure if it'll fit. And I learned that Uhaul won't rent to soft tops so that's why I gotta throw it up on a transport.
I’ve done this, but I had 33s. Get tire straps that’ll fit, u-haul provided ones wouldn’t fit and I bought some from like Home Depot day of the move that I eyeballed and they didn’t quite fit snug either… they worked though, just chained it up really good. *And ratchet them down again every time you stop.
Like getting it on the transport? No. The width of the tire was an issue for the straps to fit on snuggly in the center, so I kind of angled back so it was catching the tires to prevent it from rolling back/off. The one I bought looked like this… and that center cross strap wouldn’t come down fully/fit snug. Looks like there are better options out there though…
What tires do you have? Most 35s are 12.5" wide, same as 33s. You should be fine. My 37s are 12.5 wide too fwiw.
After some research the xtreme recon width is 73.8" in width. So I think the trailer can support 77" in wide, so it'd be tight but doable. Hate the idea of towing it though. Especially because I have the fucking tow package on it.
Oh I thought you were worried about the tires being too wide for the track. I don't think you'll have am issue there. Most 33"-37" tires are the same width. You should be able to see the width on the side of the tire. It'll say like 35x12.5x17. First number is diameter, second is width, last is wheel size. If middle number is 12.5 or smaller, you should be fine. 13.5 might be pushing it.
Jeep has gone to hell. Dash looks like a Christmas tree. Took it to the dealership they are running codes
Just put new brakes on the 2006 LJ. I love how easy these things are to wrench on. Downside is I can see myself spending way too much money modifying it.
Ran across a "Jeep Club" in the wild at minor league baseball game the other day. Do they always park where one drives a wheel up on top of another one?
Did Jeepfest in Jasper GA last weekend. Parking like that I think is a boast around their high quality lift and extreme suspension travel. They were all over last weekend parked like that everywhere you went.
In the next few weeks I take over management of a new Jeep dealership. Don't think I've spent more than a few minutes inside a Jeep in my whole life. Please teach me everything I need to know, in bite-sized chunks. Thank you.
Your best bet is to reach out to a local Jeep club. Some are super lame, some are cool. Go out on an off road ride with those guys and you'll learn a lot.
But what is fun about it? Are you going bouldering like in the commercials or ripping through some sand dunes?
It's a sports car on big tires with a convertible top. The 392 version of the Wrangler has 470 hp and is all wheel drive, it's quick as shit. Florida is very flat so not much off road scenery. We do get out some into the Ocala National Forrest but a Subaru could do most of that. We can drive on the beach in a lot of areas here too, but again, most 4x4 vehicles can do that. It's really just the big engine that goes fast.
I’ll never get the people that try to shame a person for having a nice car. Or not needing any truck beyond the smallest made. We live a short life. Enjoy it.
Yea the aev stuff is nice but way overpriced. Their lift is supposedly pretty good dual on and off road though. Not a fan of those wheels at all though. Their Pintler wheels are much better imo.
Yeah only part of the wheels I like is the color match. Might have be rings color matched but I like the stock wheels
Love this thing. Have only driven the Corvette once since getting this and that was only because my wife told me I needed to.
It'll be a very long time until I own anything else. Maybe if Jeep makes a a new one with the Hurricane engine that zips around even quicker but I think I'm good. Or if some new tech comes out that it doesn't have but I'm more than happy with it.
