Resurrection. Started this up again, anyone playing it still? I know there was a longer thread, but it must have been pre-crash.
I'm still playing. Actually just got dome with an Arena run (4-3, I still suck at Arena). Welcome aboard.
I'm almost done with the basic decks (Everything Level 10). Any tips on deck builders or whatever that can evaluate my shitty cards for me so I don't have to put in effort?
Kudos for finding and using Hearthpwn, btw. A quick glance shows you have the most Rogue cards, and Rogue is a good deck IMHO. Combo is a cool mechanic. Preparation is a great card. You can drop a Fan of Knives for free with it. Master of Disguise is great, too. You can drop a minion that has a constant positive effect then stealth it so your opponent has a hard time getting rid of it. For instance, drop a Raid Leader (which gives all your other minions +1 attack) then drop Master of Disguise and stealth the Raid Leader. Now all your other minions get a bonus to attack and the Raid Leader is protected, so that effect stays for a while. Just don't attack with him or the stealth will break. A cool trick I've found is using The Coin to trigger a Rogues combo effect. Combo requires you do something before the combo effect to trigger it. For instance, Defias Ringleader is a 2/2 minion for 2 mana. If combo'd, he also summons a 2/1 minion. So, if he is played after something, his combo kicks in and two minions appear for the price of one. So, play The Coin on turn 1, giving you 2 mana. Then drop Defias Ringleader. His combo kicks in since you played The Coin first. On turn 1, you have a 2/2 and a 2/1 on the board. Removal spells are used to get rid of an opponents minions. Vanish is great at that, although it is expensive. Remember, it returns your minions as well, so just don't have any out. What was your favorite character to play?
I liked mage a lot... big, quick damage type cards. I'm pretty adaptable, though. Just want to play a little bit of everything until I really get the feel for a certain deck.
Mage is kind of the default favorite at first. It's the one most people are most comfortable with and probably one of the simpler ones. Your Mage cards are kinda lacking, like all classes right now. If you like Mage, play it more and more. Get the gold, buy packs and plug along. Don't forget the daily quests. If you get one you don't like (i.e. 3 Shaman victories), click the small X at the upper left to dismiss it for a new one. You can do that once a day. Also, try to get the achievements for gold. http://www.hearthpwn.com/forums/hea...1088-list-of-achievements-and-daily-quests-in Right now, you don't have a solid base in any one class, though you do have more Rogue cards and an epic card (Preparation). I'm still not very good, but I know some things. Let me know if you have any questions.
Do you have it on your phone / tablet? You can get an app called Google Rewards. It sends you random surveys that you can answer for money credited to you Google Play account. When you get $2.99, but a pack. Good cards are obviously give you a better chance at winning, but good players can beat bad players (and mediocre players sometimes) with basic cards. As with most games like this, play and play and learn. Watch videos of people playing, read strategy guides, etc. It's slow at first, but don't get discouraged. It's a fun game, I play an hour or so a day at a minimum.
I'd never even heard of that app... just signed up and got a buck. Sweet! I love beating people with gold everything and I'm still throwing out that damn dinosaur card. Makes me laugh every time. I'm assuming I should still be getting common packs? That's all I've bought so far. Also, are any of the adventures worth it? I've thought about getting one.
That Google Rewards is pretty bad ass. I've never spent real money on Hearthstone, but I've bought a bunch of packs with that credit. Most surveys give you $0.10 - $0.50, not much, but it's free and Google knows everything about you anyway. You mean core packs? Yeah, there are some good cards in those. They all have a nice selection. Goblin vs. Gnomes have a lot of mech cards, The Grand Tournament introduced a mechanic called Inspire. Anytime your hero uses his hero ability, a card with Inspire gets some kind of bonus. For Mage, I think Goblin vs. Gnomes has the better cards, so I'd go for that as well. The adventures have cards you can't get anywhere else (yet). The newest one, League of Explorers, has some really cool cards (well, they all do I guess, I just like LoE). Also, if you complete a wing of an adventure, you're guaranteed a Legendary card. I'd probably go for Blackrock Depths as my first one if I were you. It has a great Legendary (http://hearthstone.gamepedia.com/Emperor_Thaurissan) and you get a Mage card as well in the first wing (http://hearthstone.gamepedia.com/Dragon's_Breath).
I made it to rank 15 totally f2p I'm getting really sick of getting stomped on by dr. balanced and reno jackson every fucking game.
with the new modes coming out gold allocation should be to classic packs and saving for the new adventure.
I have Dr. Boom and Reno Jackson. I crafted Dr. B as soon as I could, so overpowered. I got Reno by doing LoE first wing. Just got Mal'Ghanis a few days ago for my Demon Zoo deck. Highest I've made it in ranked is 17.
You have to leave out so many cards to make a viable Reno deck. Those cards you always have two of? Nope. Most decks rely on those cards. It can be tough. But... I was playing a Mage a few days ago. I had the secret that prevented fatal damage and made you immune for the rest of the turn. I had 2 health and was hit for 3, guy gave me the "Well played" emote. Surprise, my secret prevented the damage and I was immune for the rest of the turn. My turn, Reno Jackson, back to full health. Concede.
Hearthpwn/Innkeeper question... I'll export my decks, save them on Hearthpwn... they show up just fine on my page. If I exit HS, re-open it and play a match it says that the deck I'm playing with isn't recognized or something. Anyone see this before? Do I have to export my decks EVERY time I log into HS?
I don't know. I don't export my decks. I just use to see what cards I have when researching decks. It shows a little red dust vial next to a card you don't have in your collection so you'll know what you need.
Definitely starting to get a feel for it now... even made a Tavern Brawl deck that got me a Win. Finally hit the 100 total wins mark, so there's 3 decks as well. Went ahead and bought Nax just to start at the beginning... totally wish I hadn't.
Naxx is good, but the first wing is probably the worst. Why do you say you wish you hadn't bought it?
Aren't the cards going to be unplayable soon or something to that effect? I guess the worst case scenario is that I disenchant all of them and get a bunch of dust?
There's gonna be standard and wild. Standard will be what you play for ranked, so most serious players will only play standard. It consists of only certain cards. Wild is anything. So, if you want to play ranked, then yeah. But you can play wild and play all cards.
I never see Priest lauded as a great class. I don't like playing them and I hate playing against them. Takes too long and it's frustrating, even when you win. Make sure you put two each of those cards that destroy a low-cost minion (Shadow Word Pain) and a high-cost minion (Shadow Word Death). Just dropping one of those to destroy anything* for 2 or 3 mana is impressive. (*Oddly enough, the first is 3 and below, the second is 5 and above, so minions with an attack of 4 are immune to both). They are definitely a control focused class. Paladin is prime at making a "weenie deck", a deck composed of primarily small, low-cost minions. His hero ability even creates them. Then use all the buff spells to make them stronger. Very simple example of a Paladin deck.
Went ahead and dusted some of my cards to make this... http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/437470-mkrr3s-ftp-9-days-legend-from-zero Been a lot of fun so far, although I apparently suck with it and can't get past 19.
No legendaries and you get to rank 19? That's pretty good. I'd probably drop one of those Ironbeak Owls and Divine Favors for better cards. I don't see a time that you'd need to burn 3 mana to draw cards up to your opponents hand. At some point, his hand is going to be low on cards as well. But I'm pretty bad.
Kinda like infinite fireball mage. It take a little luck to get the right conditions for that, but when it hits it's so beautiful...
Good call on the Divine Favors, I took one out. There are very few times I ever found myself playing that card, especially when I'd need a finishing card and found myself staring at that POS.
Saw one the other day where a guy played Millhouse Manastorm on turn 2. His opponent had a Pyroblast, a Fireball and an Arcane Intellect. Used Arcane Intellect to draw another Pyroblast and Fireball. Pyroblast, Pyroblast, Fireball, Fireball (all 0 mana). OTK. Was pretty cool.
So, the next expansion is supposed to be announced Friday. But, some guy saw this in the way into work this morning, in New Jersey I think:
