Man our fraternal twins have mostly always been hard. Wife says she thinks it’s cuz they are the same age so get into the same shit. Sleep has always been tough for our son in particular and one of them is always in a FU I’m doing what ever I want kind of phase even if the other is not. Basically what I’m sayin is welcome to my hell ButchCassidy
I only have one but I’ve always thought it would be easier in the second child. First child changes so much, second means you go from double team defense to man to man, I think going to zone is where it gets messy again.
The bird wants to have another little bird. After hanging with our friends all weekend skiing with their 8yo single child I think I’m finally on board. I’m gonna be grampa dad at the school gatherings.
Also duc15 people seem to think it’s good to have another one while the other one is still in diapers so you don’t get out of that phase? That’s all I’ve known so I can’t really say it’s better or not but it seems like it is.
Congrats man! You’ll be retired greeting at Walmart when that kid graduates HS. Serious though M needs a little bro or sis. Mines an only and a total pain in the ass
And while 2 has been 1000 times harder than 1 for my situation, it's still a lot of fun. My kids are 2 years apart and apparently the only siblings in daycare that run across the playground to give each other hugs when their classes are out at the same time . It's undoubtedly helped with my youngest's development as well.
Selfishly looking forward to that indoor release and pregger bewbs again. Gonna be a pain in the ass casing 2 around when the Bird’s gone tho. She needs to upgrade to captain so dad can retire early
Kid1 has started to request “science videos” instead of the normal kid junk and it makes me so happy. Need to find the old Bill Nye videos.
My 5 year old makes us watch those youtube cartoons about anatomy and the body (parts of the eye, ear, the immune system, etc.). He's either going to be a doctor or a dexter
Between Disney +, Hulu, Netflix, my 6 year old chooses to watch full game NFL replays. I have no idea how he got so obssesed but he easily consumes more football content than me.
Random but new Dad's, expecting Dads, Dads already using this bottle, this is a great deal. Tried several of the recommended ones and this one was flawless with both kids
Thanks I will now have this theme song in my head for the rest of the work day. My son would sing it when he was little and "Falcon Flight" always sounded like "Fuckin Flight"
This is nice - mine are only 2 years apart and it was nice just keeping a similar routine and continuing to pack the same bag of diapers, clothes, snacks, etc. We didn't even really get used to sleep all that much before #2 came along. I imagine if we waited 4-5 years for #2 we would have struggled more. This x100. Mine are assholes to eachother at home but outside the house, they are BFFs. And yes, the development of #2 is so much quicker because he just wants to be like his big bro.
Wife is freaking out because my 4 year old bit another kid today. He is basically great at daycare and she thinks he is about to get kicked out. Obviously biting isn’t a way to solve anything but think we need more info before freaking out.
Extremely normal unless your kid clamped on like a pit bull. Kid1 had a couple month stretch where I had to take her home because of biting like once a week.
Yeah unless they're routinely drawing blood or just don't stop over an extended period they won't get kicked out over one incident. Ours will put them on a biting log to try to identify triggers or circumstances around the bites to review with the parents.
That’s what I said. Let’s hear what happened and talk about before we are freaking out. Dudes been great at daycare from everything we hear.
Have spent most of the day researching and signing kids up for various summer camps. It's like being in daycare again except twice as expensive. These assholes don't know how good they have it now that I work across the street from Bush Gardens.
Seems like my boy developed a fear of the doctor in the ~1 month between his 12 month checkup and a sick visit yesterday. Guessing he remembers those shots at his last visit. Everything was cool until we started walking down the hall back to a room. Then he started crying a cry I've never heard out of him and latched onto me as tight as he could. He was cool again when it was just me and him in the room, but he's start crying as soon as he heard a voice outside the door. Broke my heart.
My older son turned 9 last month. I jokingly told my wife “wow he’s halfway to being out of the house”. That little comment generated like a two week existential crisis. Spoiler With that being said, it is sort of weird/scary that he’s 50% there…but I’ll never admit that to her.
My little dude is a little over 4 now, and I swear it feels like I’ve had about 20 different kids. He changes so much and so quickly. It’s an incredible experience, but I get sad missing and thinking about the past versions of him in various states of development. Simultaneously excited to see who he becomes but want to freeze him as is too
Having multiple kids has been very fun to try and compare each kid at the same stage in life. Fortunately we take lots of pictures so I don’t have to rely on memory
I don’t want to freeze these little fuckfaces at all. They are exhausting terrors. But its all worth it watching them grow up and turn into their own little people. I have great kids, I just prefer them moving forward.
i could live with freezing my [almost] 5 year old and 7 year old. they are so much fun to be around. but i am counting down the seconds until my 21 month old grows out of whatever phase he's currently in.
Just got a call from the school asking if we were going to send back the permission slip to allow the 10 year old to attend a field trip to the high school to meet police and firemen and learn about the signs of child abuse and teach him how to report it. Yea, ummm, we have never seen any permission slip for this, but feel like we're on the watch list now
Turns out he was mad about not getting to go outside and another kid got in hs face and started yelling at him. Doesn’t make it right but looks like he hit a limit and exploaded. Kid he bit I think is on the spectrum and has hit and bit many kids in the class before. So if it’s one kids parents who aren’t gonna cause a big fuss it would be his. Teacher said my son gets along very good with the kid usually and most kids avoid him so yeah overal not concerning but we still had a long talk and some role play about what to do. A girl pushed him yesterday and he went and told the teacher after asking her to stop
I didn't witness this, but my wife said our six year old daughter was playing with a classmate she saw at the nearby playground the other day for a while. At one point she tried to kiss him on the lips. Man am I not ready to deal with that in just a few quick years.
I read these, and I’m like, fuck yeah, I have two boys…I lucked out! Then I remember Simon Templar and I’m sad again.
Same but hockey for 7 year old. He wakes up first and watches nhl replays all morning. He knows way more players than I do. if that’s your kind of kid too then look at the kaskey kids website for toys. My son has like 6 different sets he plays with and then simulates the replays he watches.
Stressful day… spent 5 hours buying my wife’s new car/selling the old one. At the dealership she mentioned a light discomfort in her side but she’s 32 weeks along (and our first) so figure it’s just part of it. I had a night planned out with some friends and she calls me when she’s pulling into the hospital garage to see what the issue is but didn’t want to bother me. I immediately bail, Uber home, start packing stuff and then she’s not texting/calling back so I’m throwing everything into suitcases thinking he’s here early. “Oh sorry I ignored your calls/texts I was on the phone with my mom and sister. Everything’s fine but I just wanted to make sure…anyways we will meet them for dinner on Sunday” Vegas setting the line at O/U 2.5 times we go to the hospital and get sent back home in the next 8 weeks
My older one just woke up and said his stomach hurts…then ran into the bathroom and puked. Took a shower and puked again. It’s here. The stomach bug is here.
Don’t worry my friend, I only share some of the stories. I won’t even share the things I know about the girls but between you and I you should still be glad. With as much of a pain my son can be (and believe it or not he’s a good smart kid), girl parents have at significantly worse. Body issues, cutting, etc are things I don’t know any boy parents deal with but is sadly pretty prevalent and that’s just one area. Just this year the district changed cell rules at school because 7th grade girls were texting nudes during school. Videos were going around of girls giving bjs in the bathrooms and on an on. Girls mature so fast and early the asst superintendent we know struggles because of all the things they’ve never had to deal with as society is changing. It’s crazy and so sad. I mean how do you explain girls leading girls around on leashes in high school or wearing butt plugs with tails that hang out of the pants?
