http://www.fieggen.com/shoelace/tipsforchildren.htm BTW his "Ian Knot" is faster and stronger than the conventional "bunny ears" we all learned as kids. http://www.fieggen.com/shoelace/ianknot.htm
I'm embarrassed to admit I spent 5 minutes on that link and couldn't tie that knot and gave up. I was pretty excited because my shoelaces have come untied way more then I want them to over the past 32 years.
Give it another 10 min. When you finally get it you will be able to take back hours of shoelace tying time over the course of your life.
The boy gets a hospital evaluation for speech delay next Wednesday and the free county evaluation the following week. I'm hoping therapy gets him caught up relatively soon, because he's 2.5 and he really wants to talk better. I taught him how to draw and say A in an afternoon. So he has the interest and the apptitude.
Playing, arts and crafts, running errands, going to the park, watching cartoons, keeping him busy, etc. She's tried to get him talking, but I don't think it has been a priority.
Don't sweat it bro, he'll be fine. Each woman is different in how they raise kids. Mine has our 2 year old talking in conversations, but she refuses to discipline him properly which is raising huge issues about listening and obeying. Frustrating as fuck.
Yeah, she does a really good job keeping him active and busy and having fun while disciplining him, so that's good. She also didn't talk until well after 3, so whatevs.
It's all about what they know. Mine studied early childhood development and her BFF is a speech therapist, so yeah language was a priority. However, snatching his ass up when he freaks out and starts lashing because Blaze isn't on the TV is not on her priority list. "he'll calm down eventually" isn't what I'm interested in hearing. He's swiftly learning that dad doesn't put up that bullshit.
I have it set up for Blaze to call my son for his 3rd birthday on the 20th. Cant wait to see his face.
What's Blaze? I know everything about princess Sofia and her bitch of a sister Cersie/Amber but have never heard of blaze
Man I'm glad I don't have a daughter. He's a monster truck that can transform into any machine to get out of a jam. They use "science" to get out of trouble. Fucking woman had him watching Dora when i got home yesterday.
started watching Dinotrux with my son. he's loving that. i've gotten so burnt out on ninjago lately. my favorite girl show lately is SciGirls. Much better than that Monster High and Barbie shit her mom let's her watch.
We don't our daughter watch Barbie. "Wait until you get older, THEN you can fill your head with mindless entertainment."
same thought here. i don't mind some of the silly shows like the new Inspector Gadget though. Bindi's Boot Camp is a hit so far too.
ours isnt quite doing cartoons/tv yet, but I am going to see how long I can do looney tunes and older cartoons in general before we give into the current junk. also noticed netflix has reading rainbow
The kid has been actively picking out older Mickey cartoons on Netflix. That's pretty funny to me. 2.5 years old, can't talk, works Netflix like a champ. I think I know what the issue is.
Moving to netflix full time after last night. He was watching something on youtube with the wife. He clicked on suggested videos and South Park popped up talking about lesbians.
Little Odin will be 4 in a month. His favorite shows are Batman (the original 1960's version) and Power Rangers. I was too old when Power Rangers came out so I never watched it, but holy fucking fuck is that a stupid show.
YouTube kids app. Somehow my daughter will find some Russian speaking videos. She's probably multilingual by now.
Our kids watch a lot of PBS kids shows. Curious George, Sesame Street, etc. Mickey Mouse clubhouse is also very popular in our house.
Our now 3 week old is getting too big for her newborn sleepers. The growing too fast struggle is already real...
This is all Deetoo will watch. At 2 y/o he doesn't get to watch TV very much, maybe an episode every other day, but Choo Choos are all he wants. He was into Daniel Tiger for a bit, but it's only the island of Sodor now.
Thomas actually taught my oldest numbers. He knows the trains that goes with numbers 1-10 and we don't have 2, or 7-10.
Oh, I have been holding off on this to make sure that we are good but Deetoo is fully potty trained! Did the 3 day method with m&ms and smarties as rewards. He took to it pretty well. It's been two weeks and we've only had a couple minor pee accidents and none this week. No more fucking diapers!
Poops took awhile. Today he is 3 with a hot wheels party, and he has been on point the past few weeks with only minor pees as well. We used star wars hot wheels cars and star wars pez dispensers.
Pffft. Geen tuck (green truck) and fir tuck (fire truck) are about all we get out of the boy. And he hoots like a monkey and climbs the stairs great.
He pantomines row row row the boat and twinkle twinkle little star pretty good. And I have no doubt he can beat little Deetoo's ass (but not little dolphin - that kid is a moose).
We cured the boy of his biting, but he still bares fangs from time time and I'm guessing he'd bite back immediately.
I did Oh Crap Potty Training after trying the 3 day method. 3 day was a disaster. Other one worked like a champ. Been out of diapers with the oldest since 28 months.
That moment when you realize your one year old is perfectly cool with walking down the beach holding your hand and upon hearing the code word for boobs, walking up an unfamiliar set of cans and yanking that top down with extreme prejudice. Spoiler Being a dad is so awesome.
