I don’t know shit about boxing, but how can you call a fight even when one got knocked down 3 times, (and hugged when he wasn’t down) vs a guy who never buckles?

It's a 12 round fight that scored round by round.

Garcia had 3 rounds with KD's and one of them he had a point deducted.

I thought Haney fought well when he wasn't getting beaten up :)

Rounds are scored 10-9 and when a knockdown occurs it's almost always 10-8. If you win enough rounds you can overcome knockdowns and 1 of those knockdowns was essentially cancelled out when Garcia was penalized a point for hitting on the break.

Will never give credit to a fighter that misses weight by that much.

They know a day ahead of time when going to miss by 2+ lbs and then essentially stop cutting weight before the weigh-in.

Fucktard MMA guy Ariel Helwani claiming people need to apologize to Garcia is so stupid, he trafficked in qanon shit not stuff to promote the fight.

Coming back to this at least in the 1 instance I didn't think Garcia had truly turned his back and the body shots were legit. The ref had a tough job but I question some of his decisions and consistency of enforcement, the obvious one being Haney receiving 0 deductions for holding after like 50 warnngs.

Posted before this fight but there's just so much delusion among these guys about their true popularity/name recognition. You've gotta be in the ring as much as possible to stay relevant even if it's just a stay busy fight. Guys fighting once or twice a year pretending they're Floyd/Pac is just insane, if you bring in eyeballs maybe you get other tv networks involved even for a stay busy fight and everyone benefits.

every round is an island. It’s not cumulative. Clearly winning 3 rounds doesn’t mean you won the other 9.

It's just so disingenous and occurs across all religions/sports/spectrums. For an example Mayweather is a toxic as fuck misogynist with kids from multiple women in no way is he "faithful" to whatever. Some guys hit the lottery in terms of athletic ability there was never some great plan by God.

but god damn woke up and still can’t believe whatever the hell that was from Devin and Bill. Thought he was much better defensively. The shot he took on the first knock down looked like a low level pro trying to defend himself. What a weird and wild performance

Haney has been hurt before so I guess it shouldn't have been a surprise. Guess he's just not nearly an elite level which I had my doubts anyway because Garcia didn't seen to take training seriously and easily beat him and prob could have knocked him out

For sure, kind of forgot about the times Haney has been rocked and how they landed. Once those middle rounds started last night you could tell anything that Haney landed didn’t faze Ryan at all. No real threat of power behind Devin.

    re the scoring and knockdowns

the timing of them matters..it is different if the knockdowns happened early then Haney completely schooled him rounds 5-12 but that isn’t what happened . Fight got in a lull around rounds 3-6 then 7-11 it was clear w the knockdowns and just Haney’s body language that he was defeated. idk how Dan can see that and give Haney the win on his scorecard

    Friday, April 26
DAZN, 8:00 pm ET, Yoenis Tellez vs Joseph Jackson

Most Valuable Prospects show from Orlando. Tellez is a legit prospect and emerging contender at 154, 23 and from Cuba but one of the new age lads who doesn’t necessarily “fight like a Cuban.” Jackson isn’t a prospect, he’s a 35-year-old club fighter from North Carolina with a paper record, but hey, here’s his chance to show something. We’ll set up a thread for you guys who are watching live.

    Saturday, April 27
Save Mart Arena, Fresno, CA (DAZN)

    • Start time: 8 p.m. ET / 1 a.m. UK (Sunday)
    • Main event ringwalks (approx): 11 p.m. ET / 4 a.m. UK (Sunday)
    Jose Carlos Ramirez -850
    Rances Barthelemy +560

    • Jose Ramirez vs Rances Barthelemy, super lightweights, 12 rounds
    • Vergil Ortiz Jr vs Thomas Dulorme, super welterweights, 10 or 12 rounds
    • JoJo Diaz vs Oscar Duarte, super lightweights, 10 or 12 rounds
    • Marlen Esparza vs Gabriela Alaniz, rematch, flyweights, 10 rounds, for Esparza’s WBC, WBA, and WBO titles
Ramirez makes his Golden Boy debut in a fight nobody was much asking for, but hey if Golden Boy/DAZN are overpaying for this, sure, it was worth avoiding all those better fights Top Rank were offering. Personally I think this is a sneaky matchup for Jose; he sometimes can be lulled into fighting someone else’s fight, and Barthelemy can be quite a luller. That’s not a word. Ortiz continues his comeback trail at 154 against Dulorme, once a 147 prospect who never really panned out and is 1-3 in his last four, the three coming against people who can fight and the one against someone who can’t, really. JoJo Diaz is also on the card against Oscar Duarte, as apparently Diaz did not field any tremendous offers from rival promoters after losing his fourth in five fights back in February.
    ********************************************************************

    Exhibition Centre, Liverpool, England (DAZN)

    • Start time: 7 p.m. UK / 2 p.m. ET
    • Main event ringwalks (approx): 10:23 p.m. UK / 5:23 p.m. ET

    Marc Leach +1420
    Peter McGrail -2500

    • Peter McGrail vs Marc Leach, super bantamweights, 10 rounds
    • Pat McCormack vs Williams Andres Herrera, welterweights, 10 rounds
    • Beatriz Ferreira vs Yanina Lescano, lightweights, 10 rounds, for vacant IBF title
    • Junaid Bostan vs Jack Martin, super welterweights, 10 rounds
    • Maisey Rose vs TBA, flyweights, 8 rounds
    • Joe McGrail vs Ryan Walker, featherweights, 8 rounds
This was supposed to be McGrail trying to avenge his stunning loss to Ja’Rico O’Quinn, but O’Quinn’s out so we have this instead. Beatriz Ferreira goes for her first world title on the card, too, facing Yanina Lescano for the vacant IBF lightweight belt. We’ll set up a thread for you guys who are watching live.
