Harry Clark and Maddie Denton are a powerhouse duo. Been watching a bunch of the East Nash sets from Dee’s on youtube. Was reading this article from Maddie this morning and learned that Jarrod wrote a song on their last album. Anybody seen these guys live? I had them pop up on my suggested. Talented players, need to mature as songwriters. They're still playing the small joint circuit and only charge $20 a show. https://www.mountaingrassunit.com/
I was looking forward to seeing them at DelFest, but I fucked up the planning so we can’t go. If anyone wants to do DelFest, I have two 4-day passes and on-site parking pass. Paid 719 with tax and fees. Will let go for $575. Bummed because that lineup is sick, but we’re doing Merlefest as a consolation.
Seeing Bronwyn Keith-Hynes tonight at 185 King in Brevard, NC. We have been spending a lot of time in this area lately and I really want to move here. She’s played with so many people but this is her first band she has taken on the road. Currently Molly Tuttle’s fiddle player. If y’all remember Mile Twelve she helped found that band. They were so good before her and David Benedict left. She just married Jason Carter and those babies will come out of the womb fiddling.
Into The Fog warmup Saturday for Mighty Poplar on Sunday. Billy is off but not sure if Alex will be there since they’re in Tampa the night before. Will still be awesome. They’ve had John Mainlander and Stuart Duncan sit in for him on their other tours so it won’t be a slouch either way.
my sister decided not to come to Tampa so I would’ve been solo and I went golfing this morning at 7am I also missed my first phish NYE in the last ~7 years sans covid so I’m on quite the streak
Pumped for Poplar. One of our favorite places to eat in the triangle area happens to be in a gas station down from the venue. https://saxgenstore.com/

I collect a lot of blues and folk, I gotta get more bluegrass in my collection. Could you fellas give me a couple of old artists and a couple of new ones to check out? Thanks
For old artists, check out Bill Monroe, The Stanley Brothers, and Earle Scruggs/Lester Flatts. Those are as classic as you can get. The one who turned me on to bluegrass was Jerry Garcia, with a great side project Almost Acoustic that is full of bluegrass standards. My favorite on that one:
Bill Monroe “Bluegrass Ramble” Tony Rice “Manzanita” Nitty Gritty Dirt Band “ Will the Circle be Unbroken” Are the first 3 classic bluegrass albums I’d consider essential off the top of my head
