If I can get to a laptop I will go further but: Staff at the front desk rude as fuck in general Lobby looked like the 80's and smelled like cigs Elevators were the slowest I've ever experienced Figured out eventually that's because 1 of the three was broken, the second one stops at every floor on the way down no matter what. Third one goes to the tenth floor every time after it picks you up. We're talking 3-4 minutes at best to get from the lobby to the 8th floor. Now you're in the room. The sink is cracked. The hinges on the bathroom doors are rusty. The tub is rust stained and cracked. The outside door sags on the hinges so you have to lift it up to shut it. There's spit stains on that door because the sink adjoins the exit door and hasn't been wiped in possibly years. The bottom part has all the faux wood panel chipped off. The carpet is filthy and looks like the waiting room of a car service station. The walls are paper thin. The air is controlled by the old style below the window units and your options are off or Antarctica. The toilet rocked back and forth. The shower head was so loose it just slumped down to pointing straight at the drain. The iron was mounted to the inside wall of the closet and the shelf installed after that. It was literally impossible to use the iron without removing the shelf with a screwdriver. Back to the service. In traveling the world for business and pleasure I've put up with a lot of noise but this was insane. For the first time in my life I called the front desk at 2 am to complain. After 45 minutes a security guard knocked on the door and told the next door neighbors a complaint had been filed. After he leaves around two minutes later the music starts back and they start beating on the wall scream "fuck you, you're just mad you aren't invited etc". I eventually went to my buddy' and his wife's room and slept on their spare bed because a second call to the desk yielded no action within 30 minutes. That's all I got for now because I'm leaving work. It's a dump.
I've heard similar stories re: Maxwell. It is a crapshoot with priceline, but that hotel gets a ton of people through those sites as they are included in "downtown" hotels.
I'm old school. And I was traveling with a lot of people, three of whom were the hosts of the show and arranged the host hotel. They listened to people bitching all weekend.
I almost forgot the best part. The last day four hours before checkout I found the cleaning people in my room. I had gone down to put a backpack in my car and when I came back they were looking through all my stuff.
staying at Maxwell, you missed out not going to Big Al's or Monell's Love Monell's Cafe in Berry Hill on a Sunday morning
Big Al's biscuits will eventually cause me heart failure and I'm ok with that. Can't leave the place without smelling like you've been working in the kitchen, though. Monell's midnight brunch is by far the greatest thing Germantown has to offer.
haven't had it yet. I know it'd be glorious but haven't been nearby or drunk enough to drop 15 bucks on 2 AM breakfast. But I will. Big Al's is certainly an experience.
Going to Nashville the wkd of 8/5 for a bachelor party. I think we are staying at the Omni downtown. Any suggestions on things to do, places to go, titties to see, etc.? TIA
not a great strip club town, maybe others can help. Eat BBQ. Day drink in midtown. Lock up some killer breakfast but get to any brunch/breakfast place right as it opens to avoid lines and shit. Scope out Broadway. Navigate to the drinking holes and eateries in 12 south, east nashville and places outside the city center and scope out the unbelievable looking women/hipsters of Nashville.
also, do your research on what "scene" you guys want, depending on age and type of places you like to drink. I find that East Nashville, The Nations, Broadway, Midtown and other areas all offer different vibes. Broadway is the neon/touristy place you gotta go, Midtown is Vandy territory (great for meeting college-aged people), etc..
How many are in your group? Rent a "brew bus" if it's a large group. They will work out the logistics for day drinking at different breweries. Or day drink at the Omni pool. Otherwise listen to bro
www.nashvillebrewbus.com They actually have a 12 person minimum. I see them come to Bearded Iris all the time during the weekends. Personally, I would be grabbing beers from some of the local breweries and day drinking at the Omni pool. It's really nice. And I'd make a reservation to eat at Husk before going out for the night.
Stagger Lee Give up on strip clubs. They aren't worth going to around here. Don't do a fucking pedal tavern. Eat at Monell's. Day drink all over town. At least go spend an hour or so at Santa's Pub for cheap beers and hot hipster girls.
You ain't kidding. Last time I was in Nashville everyone wanted to get a good breakfast before we headed back home 4 hours away, I was feeling sick from a bad drink the night before, worst tasting Long island I've ever had, we went to one place and it was a 2 hour wait. Went to somewhere else, blue something? I can't remember. Anyways I was extremely queasy and nauseous. We end up waiting a good 3 hours outside in the heat where I'm basically laying on the ground. We get in and they take our order, I just ordered some fruit. The smells of food overwhelm me and they only had a small bathroom I take off running outside and projectile vomit in front outside of the restaurant in front of 20 or so people waiting. I wouldn't have been embarrassed if I were younger in my 20s. I was 29 at the time
For people that want a sit-down brunch/breakfast, I always recommend Pinewood Social because you can make a reservation. Lets you eat at the time you want to, not when places open
Brunch with 2 for 1 drinks on a Sunday before a noon kickoff for the Titans is a great way to spend a Sunday
Best way to do brunch, I think, is go to Marche on the east side, put your name in and go have 2 for 1s at any of the bars within a block of the restaurant. They all serve 2 for 1s on Sunday except maybe Duke's. Go eat when it's time and then go right back to one of the bars and continue enjoying the drink special. The wait is never obnoxiously long at Marche either.
pretty fucking wild. Wonder where they move. Figure Germantown, Wedgewood or Nations are only places that make some sense. Wonder if they want to be closer to something specific (Sounds/Preds/Titans)
Maybe they're looking to do something like Good People has right next to the Baron's stadium. I could see that working near Limelight by Nissan Stadium or somewhere around First Tennessee Park. Not sure exactly where/how big they are looking to go
Would be great if they could do something in one of the endzones of Nissan. The fan experience couldn't be any worse imo...
Germantown, Sounds area, and the development around Top Golf would be my guesses for Yazoo. Get rid of the awful water treatment plant by Germantown and the Cumberland and you've got another nice development area...
