Zero context, just hey I’ve heard about this movie on social media. What in the absolute FUCK did I just watch? I get it, she wanted to see Barry Keoghan’s hog. No shame in that. Hell part of me wanted to see Barry Keoghan’s hammer, but we could have just googled that babe. Any of you cinephiles want to explain the appeal of this movie to me? Spoiler: Spoiler Look I can get through a dry handjob scene like it never happened, but the fucking of the mound of dirt at the burial site was the single most uncomfortable scene I’ve ever watched in a movie. Just a straight side shot, no cuts or panning…my jaw was on the floor
Did a good job of recapturing the edgy early 00s “art” cinema vibe but I don’t care about that so I didn’t care about this. Love Barry K though
That seems to be the consensus online, I admittedly don’t have an appreciation for the art of filmmaking I don’t think. But some of those scenes were just insane. I honestly completely forgot about the bloody eat out until just now, that was like not even top 3 disturbing scene by the end of it.
A lot of the sniff their own fart film communities I read have turned on it like they turned on Bradley Cooper and Maestro. I don't think there is too much to it? It is just the Talented Mr Ripley with just some overt sexually weird scenes. Great acting, looked fantastic. 7.5/8 type film for me
the slurping noise as he drinks the bath water made me physically uncomfortable. weird movie but pretty good and i will never watch again
Loved it. Went in with zero context, thought the family was going to be vampires, didn't see the weird little guy being the twist.
I definitely thought it was going to be some satanic sacrifice thing. I liked the dad character for some reason.
As a member of the flatulent autoolfactionist community, I resent being juxtaposed to pretentious cinema snobs.
I meant to type 7.5/8-10 but my actual scale is so pretentious and complex I can not share it with you
Wife also wanted to watch so I gave it a go. Mostly good, but also maybe it was actually terrible? Still can’t decide. Keoghan was great casting.
agree. That scene made me even more uncomfortable than the grave scene. Maybe the most uncomfortable movie moment since the Trainspotting toilet scene for me. The "you're lucky I'm a vampire scene" from Saltburn is right up there too. Overall I thought the movie was OK, but there is not a lot to it that hasn't already been done in other films aside from the edgelord scenes.
I came away very impressed with how edgy and transgressive Emerald Fennell is, which I think is perhaps the only thing she was going for.
I thought this movie was going to about that chef who was a brief social media sensation because of his salting method
My wife for some reason thought it was like a Jordan Peele thriller or some shit so I was very disappointed.
Lick a tub drain= "brave, stellar performance" cmon guys we did this in 2005, we do and should regret it.
Rosamund Pike was the best part of the movie. Elordi is a star. I laughed so hard when he said “and footman have a notoriously high turnover rate, Ollie!”
It’s one of my most least liked movies. I saw it in theaters and hated it. Granted I was 16 at the time. Haven’t watched it since
So if someone was to want to Google it, what exactly should they type in the search field? Asking for a friend
