thought this was great. right up there with Daredevil. one of the things these shows suffer from usually is failing to develop supporting characters and this show did a remarkable job with it in my opinion.
Fabulous. Only disappointment was the agent orange death, he was the head of the snake and let him off easy. He was dying but still needed something better than that.
On episode 9 Best marvel since first half of season 2 of daredevil (unsurprisingly also involved Castle)
I'm through four episodes. I like it, but I think I liked season 1 better to this point. Episode three was amazing, though. Madani is a really stupid character who consistently does stupid things and should have been fired at least 5 times so far in the 17 episodes of the series I've seen. I'm not a fan.
Ep 7 Spoiler Knew it was coming but the whole “therapist falls for the psychopath trope” is so overplayed.
Binged through all of it this weekend. Thoughts in spoilers Spoiler - I think they could have fleshed out the Pilgrim story a little better. Not sure the payoff was that great for all the time spent on him. The end for him is also kind of odd, all things considered. Apparently, if you don't want to die, just tell Frank that you have kids. - Madani is stupid. So was the shrink. Was cheering for a double death in that scene. - Laughed at the stuff from the hospital. Mahoney and the NYPD need to beef up security beyond "one low level cop guarding the door". - Frank shooting Billy (or the scene with Mahoney, Curtis and Madani after that) should have been the last scene in the finale. Love how they did that. The last scene they went with was corny and stupid. - The actor who played Billy was really good, IMO. Only part about Billy I didn't like was when he immediately brushed off that he had something to do with Frank's family dying. Seemed like they could have played with that more. - I was sure that Curtis was going to die at least 5 times and I was ready to be mad. Team Curtis.
Not an actual spoiler at all but just in case Spoiler He’s a character that’s just on the show from what I’ve seen so no comic book character to reference.
Additional thoughts in spoiler as well: Spoiler - I hate how they tried to humanize Frank more this season. Letting the kiddy porn director live? Really? I feel like - Agree about Russo glossing over the fact that he killed Frank's family (when he can't remember anything before he turned into a scum bag and to him they'd still feel like his family). The way they wrote it is just plain lazy. - They didn't develop the Pilgrim character at all. Especially developing how it came to be that the Schultzs had such and unbelievable hold over him). - Russo is really gonna sit in a public hospital for 18 months after trying to kill a federal agent just because he has a few scars and some memory loss? - I absolutely love the job that Bernthal and Barnes do playing Castle and Russo. Think they did extremely well. - I agree that the last scene was horribly corny and stupid, but I guess you can't have him ride off into the sunset (back to Michigan, maybe?) if you want a third season.
Spoiler - I actually disagree with the humanizing Frank part. They showed some people he didn't kill, but they also made it a significant story arc that Frank realizes that this is who he is. His family dying didn't make him this way. It just unleashed the beast. He even says his wife knew this is who he was at one point. A lot of the stuff in the trailer in the second half of the season is essentially Frank, Curtis and Amy all coming to the same realization that Frank is legit the Punisher, and all of them come to terms with that in different ways. - The Pilgrim character is kind of the villain from the second Thor movie who wasn't as interesting as Loki so he was just kind of there. - Frank made a big deal out of how Amy is just a kid and he needed to protect here for so much of the season. Then, in the last scene of the series, he straight up murders a bunch of young gang members who aren't doing anything but sitting in a room. I just don't get how that fits with the story they were telling. At least make them old mobsters or something instead of younger people.
The Russian in the gym? I thought he looked kind of like Michael Berryman from Weird Science and The Devil's Rejects fame.
It’s the Dean of Mean Keith Jardine. He’s had several roles in films and tv shows as a “goon”. Always liked him when he was a fighter.
Enjoyed the season for the most part. Had mostly the same complaints that I've read in here. Pilgrim fella could have been a whole lot more fleshed out. I liked his character, but there's so much left out as to why he's doing what he's doing. Madani/Krista fight scene was really really bad. Of all the good fights in this show, how did this one make the cut? Seemed really cheesy and also unbelievable. Oh sure, this shrink is just an expert fighter that can beat the shit out of a trained professional who goes blow for blow with Russo moments later.
Am I supposed to believe that people all around the country wouldn't immediately recognize someone like Frank Castle who murders an assload of people, gets free from prison, and then gets into all sorts of other trouble? Like even if he goes to some "small town," those people have internet...
finished the first season and wow the last two episodes had some amazing violence I plan on staying up late and watching a good bit of season two tonight
Six episodes in and I’m really digging this. Just got to the part where Russo finds out Frank is still alive and then at the end gets in the car with Rawlins Late to the party and should have started it a long time ago.
