I’m so out of touch with this board that I don’t know if this is trolling, hyperbole, or a serious opinion.
I think the issue is when the government is legally compelling citizens to use these pronouns it extends far beyond causal private conversation e.g. legal documents, public sector employees in daily course of business, actuarial insurance classifications, affirmative action, etc... it opens Pandora’s box
I don’t think there’s much of a moral distinction between GOP politicians and literal Nazi politicians. Inciting violence and terror against minorities is directly related to scapegoating the Jews. Don’t blame me for their terroristic bents.
Black males have been the target of more propaganda and oppression than any other similar demographic group. I posted it as an incredible study on the intellectual vacuousness that stripping race from discussions especially policy ones only perpetuates the problems as a status quo effect and allows people to sidestep disparate impact of policies by race. Not the thread to go too deep on this and at work for a bit, can pm me if you want to discuss policy or pop into your dedicated thread.
I agree with the first part. Now what do you actually want to do about it besides advocate policies that might give them an economic leg up? No one wants to strip race from discussions. I'd just love for a republican to advocate a policy that might disproportionately affect minorities in a harmful way (lower taxes, immigration, government cuts, etc.) without them being accused of this sort of bullshit: Because this sort of bullshit kills discussions.
I’m not blaming the people I’m blaming the politicians who actually have power who live off inciting violence. I’m not saying we’re going to see a genocide, but they are of the same moral family.
I could spend hours bumping Trumpocalypse posts where death is wished on republicans for being deplorable pieces of shit and nazis and racists and bigots or whatever name the left needs to call them to nullify their opinions and justify your own abhorrent rhetoric.
What takes more energy in your opinion, constantly tone policing the left or constantly excusing and accommodating the right?
Not at all but extrapolating your sometimes problematic takes to huge swathes of the world is just a merica special
Because he's putting pressure on the left to keep the conversation between the ditches? Isn't that what you want? Or you want to tit-for-tat, which we all know is more satisfying... if you're a child.
It's wild how much this upsets you. Like endless months long purse clutching around people expressing anger at people who are inciting literal violence, there is a body count of white supremacist Trump supporters, and the people in power who ignore it and enact politically abusive policies towards the groups who are expressing outrage. It's laughable.
He wants to balance the scales to make the sides seem in the same stratosphere regarding violent rhetoric and policies enacting retribution when they aren't even close.
Oh I totally agree. Government compulsion in expression is repugnant regardless of the form. Hate Speech crimes shouldn't be crimes, just like no person should be compelled to stand for the National Anthem. I personally hate the idea of criminalizing any kind of speech. It makes it harder to identify assholes.
No I'd like them to act however they're gonna act and us (sorry I'm not supposed to say that any more ) to act like civilized adults. That John McCain thread sticks in my mind like no other. Dude's a god damn patriot, a veteran, and a good man by any measure. But the left acts like absolute heathens, hoping he dies because he doesn't agree with your tax policy or safety net spending or whatever. It's like you see Donald Trump being a piece of shit and think "maybe we should start acting that way. Dehumanize our opponents so we don't have to consider their point of view." It's disappointing as hell to me as someone who has spent my entire life thinking liberals were above that bullshit, while the conservatives embraced it.
It's because he continually enabled Donald Trump in his destruction of our democracy. Some people are Patriots and care about America. Those complicit in the weakening of our democratic norms are going to catch some ire. Is it right? Maybe not. But it's a really weird hill to die on. People are pissed and the anger is justified. Maybe you should keep the actual source of their anger in mind every now and then, rather than just constantly pearl clutching over some meaningless venting.
no, because as thoroughly documented on this board, he polices the left all while excusing racism non stop from the right
A healthcare bill that he supported at that time was going to lead to like 20k preventable American deaths a year. Just one nugget. Spare me the pearl clutching.
fucking seriously. literal nazis are murdering people and this disengenious twat wants us, the message board posters, to exercise a modicum of decency on people that would have many of us dead. SIR, HAVE YOU NO DECENCY, SIR
stop pearl clutching about pearl clutching i'm not creative enough to have too many phrases that say that exact thing
Oh I know. I find it funny. I grudgingly concede that in a perfect world these anti American terrorist rats should be tried and convicted prior to being executed. I think it’s darkly humorous that it’s grossly inappropriate to wish death on these people but a strong finger wagging is apparently enough of a response when someone like Trump literally incites murder against innocent people.
This thread, as any thread that gets political (seems like 50% of them these days do unfortunately), is dramatizing the daily happenings of life far too much and most posts are therefore speculation, generalization, and completely useless drivel. Not sure how any of you aren’t completely sick of it.
When you’re an ideologue, your desire for violence against those who oppose your dogma is a means to an end. This board is full of people who would be just fine with violent action that satiates their hatred and anger. That only makes sense, because the country as a whole is riddled with radicals on both sides at that place.
Ingredients 2 cups white sugar 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 2 eggs 1 cup milk 1/2 cup vegetable oil 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 cup boiling water Directions Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two nine inch round pans. In a large bowl, stir together the sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add the eggs, milk, oil and vanilla, mix for 2 minutes on medium speed of mixer. Stir in the boiling water last. Batter will be thin. Pour evenly into the prepared pans. Bake 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven, until the cake tests done with a toothpick. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.

I think Peterson is funny because he is obsessed with archetypes and he’s pretty damn close to one himself. Huge nerd, clearly lives in a bubble, has a certain pathology about sex and women (this dude is horny) and is awkwardly intelligent. He’s basically a simpsons character. And he’s absolutely driven his peers in academia crazy, all while speaking like Kermit the frog on tranquilizers.
Bullshit. You continue to call discussions about race “identity politics” because you’ve bought into the right wing narrative that asking for equality means oppressing white men.
Do you think it would make any difference for you if we had your definition of equality of opportunity?
