Went and bought 'the devil inside me.' Only like 10 pages in but I like it so far and I know I'll enjoy the rest. I never knew anything about this Chicago World fair so it's pretty cool getting a history lesson on that as well. On 'Chicago' day they had over 700,000 visitors at the fair. Also, Walt Disneys dad help construct some of the buildings at the fair. Thought both of those tidbits were pretty cool.
For the love of God no one tag pearl, but I laughed at the one serial killer who took pictures of women's feet and kept them as his trophies.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlton_Gary idk if anybody mentioned him. interesting to me though because it took place where I live. also, he currently holds the record for tying up the death penalty the longest through appeals. putting columbus on the map!
Lol. Yeah. It was late and I was tired. His quote was something about having a devil inside me so that's prob where I got it.
Though he wasn't a serial killer much like Ed Gein this thread pertains to mein interests... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Gein
Ted bundy bio on bio channel. He grew up thinking his grandparents were his parents and his mom was his sister. Wtf.
Read The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule recently about Ted Bundy. The parts about the murders and investigation are great. Specifically the night in Tallahassee when he on that rampage. The parts about her friendship/acquaintanceship with him were less compelling. I'm convinced he was on the prowl 24/7. Not sure what his final body count really was, he was never honest with people. What makes him creepy is that he wasn't out of place with respectable people. He could blend in on college campuses and with decent folks. A lot of these other serial killers are lower class, and would stick out in wealthier areas.
Watched the Zodiac the other night again, very underrated film imo, still can't believe they were never able to find that guy and crazy that arthur lee miller wasn't the guy if you believe that the DNA on the envelope was that of the zodiac(it didn't match allen's)
So, everyone's pretty sure that devine is mutilating squirrel corpses in his granny's backyard instead of posting on TMB, right?
why is there not a badass movie about Ted Bundy? You could make one big budget good actors it would be scary as hell and interesting-the public would eat it up.
Gary Ridgeway (Green River killer) is a good example of hard these guys are to catch. He had an IQ barely above mentally challenged and he killed 49 and his number is presumed to be twice that. I guess it was dumb luck he got away because they did interview him at one point in their investigation but cleared him during the 80s. Oops /random thought
To be fair, all of his victims ended up dead (except the one where he got caught), and there wasn't an easy way to track people back then. Similar issue with BTK.
Not serial killer but this happened near me when I was a kid. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown's_Chicken_massacre
He also killed prostitutes. You almost have to want to be caught to get caught killing prostitutes, they are easy targets and not many people care when they go missing.
"In his letters to police, Rader asked if his writings, if put on a floppy disk, could be traced or not. The police answered his question in a newspaper ad posted in the Wichita Eagle saying it would be safe to use the disk. On February 16, 2005, Rader sent a purple 1.44-MBMemorex floppy disk to Fox TV affiliate KSAS-TV in Wichita."
http://murderpedia.org/male.H/h/hedin-tore.htm #3. A Cop Murders His Friend, Is Placed In Charge Of The Investigation To Catch Himself Wiki Commons In 1951, the quaint Swedish town of Saxtorp was in the midst of being terrorized by an ax murderer. When the case picked up national attention, all of Sweden turned to Tore Hedin, a respected Saxtorp police officer. He was put in charge of the investigation and would hold helpful press conferences to update the nation on his progress. It must have been difficult for him to keep a straight face during those press conferences, becauseHedin was secretly the ax murderer. via Murderpedia "If you have any questions, just ...ax." The Absurd Double Life: As far as history knows, Hedin's criminal activity started in 1943, when he stole some oats from a brewery and then burned down the entire building to cover his tracks. For the next eight years, Hedin kept the same M.O. -- he would commit fairly petty crimes (like oat burglary) and then burn down entire buildings to hide the evidence. Hedin got the sweet, sweet taste of murder on the very night a rally was being held in his honor. He didn't attend the rally, because he was busy robbing and murdering his good friend John Nilsson. Tore covered it up with his usual raging fire, and the concerned townsfolk soon put him in charge of finding the culprit. Unfortunately, to the town's dismay, Tore couldn't seem to figure out who this monster was. via Murderpedia "Maybe if we burned the police station down?" Hedin was finally fired after his girlfriend dumped him and he kidnapped her and threatened her life. Left with nothing but free time, Hedin went full maniac on his town, killing his parents, his ex-girlfriend, and five people in a local retirement home before running into the wilderness and drowning himself in a lake. He even left a note confessing his crimes, so, technically, hedidsolve the mystery.
Scorcese is about to do a movie about him called Devil in the White City. It's also about the World Fair that was taking place in Chicago at the exact same time. Dicaprio is playing Holmes and Tom Hardy is supposed to be the fair organizer. The book was outstanding.
Check out the documentary about the Original Night Stalker also known as the East Area Rapist... This son of a bitch was the smartest yet luckiest serial killer/rapist in USA history with over 50 rapes and 12 murders and was never caught.. There are other docs on him but go to you tube and search original night stalker. There is an episode on dark minds season 2 episode 1, and another one by CSNBC that is in 3 parts.. check it out, it will blow your mind. This guy was one lucky and clever as fuck..
- my girlfriend was a Chi Omega and we dudes could never be on floors of the house with bedrooms. Called it the "Bundy Rule." - my mom has interviewed/corresponded with several serial killers when assisting with writing a psychology book. - Jeff dahmer was a pretty fun guy I hear
Why kill one person here and there when you can easily kill a bunch all at one time? Killers have just learned how to be more efficient now.
