What were the things you thought signified wealth when you were a kid? the first couple models of Air Jordans multi-line phone in the house plexiglass backboard on home hoop if you owned a Nordic Trac ski machine of course I'll think of like 9 more as soon as I post this
When I started having a wallet when I was kid and had maybe $5 I would think someone was rich if they had like $1,000 they could easily access. I am still very stupid but different ways
related to wallets, i always thought men who had money clips instead of regular wallets were rich. i guess because the cash was so visible and people noticeably carried more cash around.
My dad had a money clip and would always keep way too much money on him. We were not rich. It just seemed irresponsible as hell but back then you needed to have real money for things I guess
I always dreamed of growing up and making great money. $40k was the magic number that would get me there But I was in the Florida panhandle, so maybe I wasn't too far off
I am such a cheap ass that I refuse to order anything but water when eating out. Also, every kid in the south 16+ driving a brand new pickup or altima was not what I expected when going to school in Mississippi.
There were three kids who vied for richest kids in my school. Two were part of mafia families, like literal mafia. They both had indoor swimming pools. That was as elite as you could get. The third was one of my best friends, whose dad owned a general contracting construction business—in ground pool, big screen TV, pool table. All mentioned above. We had an Intellivision gaming system instead of Atari. That set us apart.
