Historically, I would say Camp Nou and the San Siro are the two great fortresses in Europe. I never really saw the Santiago Bernabéu as being as intimidating as either stadium. Basically, it's a bunch of Spanish faggits with air horns. Anfield and Stamford Bridge are good picks in recent years, IMO.
FWIW, I imagine that the Maracana in Brazil was probably amazing back in the day before its capacity was severely reduced. Before the Heysel Disaster, the San Siro had a capacity of 125,000, which I cannot even imagine seeing in person. There was a legendary game between Italy and Brazil way back when played in front of 125,000 in the San Siro. Italy hammered Brazil, IIRC.
yeah any of the three major istanbul teams would be a good pick i just cant see any appreciable difference between them
I think Sukru Saracoglu is intimidating as all hell and probably the best atmosphere in Europe, but the quality of the teams that have historically played in a stadium factors equally into a stadium being tough to win at as the atmosphere does. Still, I used to love going on Youtube and watching the 55,000 people jumping video at Sukru...
also because i have a soft spot for gala when i was a baby my parents took me to a gala game when they were trekking across greece/turkey and kept telling me that i had this amazed look the whole time so yeah i follow them casually
