House of the Dragon (G.O.T. Prequel) on HBO

I hope this is good but I'm expecting it to be HBO's final flush down the toilet for the GOT IP.

 

As long as there is source material for it I don’t think it will be too bad

what got HBO in trouble with GOT is continuing the show with no book attached to it

 

the source material is meh. nothing compared to ASOIAF.

 

Rumors of it getting canceled?!

 

Its hard to say, lots of stuff online about it being cancelled and then I see articles on how it just finished filming? Maybe the filmed a pilot, it sucked, they cancelled that story line and tried again? Who knows.

 

Martin blogged today that they’ve wrapped the first season.

 

I believe that was the other prequel that they were gonna do.

 

Probably referencing the other prequel Bloodmoon, which got canned after the pilot. This one already wrapped filming on season 1.

 

I want the dunk and egg stories

not sure I could care less about CGI dragons.

the new show will have to be awesome for anything else in this universe to get green lit

the dragons were prob my least favorite part of both the books and the show. just didnt care

all of the money lost because of the martin-benioff-weiss triumvirate of jackassery is truly one of the greatest hollywood blunders of all time

 

I liked Fire and Blood but the dance of dragons is one of my least favorite thing in all of ASOIAF universe. It’s just been re-told in so many other books and it goes into so much detail in everything. I’m sure the cgi battles will be great but it’s not even one of the best spin-off type stories.

 

Dunk and Egg would have been the best. They probably tested CoF one and outside of book readers no casual fan would give a shit about that story.

 

I agree. I’m a slut for the Targaryens so I probably enjoyed the source material more than most; however, the Dance of Dragons isn’t my favorite part of Targaryen lore. In fact, it’s one of the few instances where I was actively annoyed with some of the narrative choices GRRM made.

I feel the same way about dragons as I do direwolves. I like them in so far as they are an extension of their riders.

TLDR: will not be watching.

 

Is it just me or did the girl at the start look like Emelia Clarke?

 

Didn’t know there was another prequel. What was the story line for that one?

 

“Bloodmoon was the production title of HBO's first Game of Thrones spin-off series. It was to be set during the Age of Heroes, some 8,000 years before the original TV series, and was intended to depict the events of the Long Night.”

 

And If it had ever come to fruition it’s be the only show to do that

 

I hate that I will watch this show and spite will prevent me from enjoying it, even if it's good.

 

It has a ton of source material unlike the original series and having to just wing it because the books ran out so it has potential.

 

Spite has more to do w GRRM never finishing than the GOT tv show turning to crap

Yes. It’ll be from Fire and Blood and I assume all the other books that detailed the Dance with Dragons. At least I assume that’s what it would be about otherwise it’ll be really boring.

 

I remember almost nothing from Fire & Blood

 

I just looked at the cast list and it’s the Dance with Dragons.

 

I knew that. That's pretty much what Fire & Blood covers, right?

 

Yeah that’s the bulk of the book. The rest was just the history of the various Targaryen rulers, but it was pretty much all the dance
