Appease the fans until then lol. GTA 5 updates give you about 1 week of new content with friends and then back to being griefed in the lobby.
I can’t play GTA5 at all but the rest of the world loves it. Seemed like RDR2 was prime for an online breakout and it just crashed and burned. My point is that it’s gotta be a tall order for these guys to put their all into replacing possibly the most successful game of all time and risk possibly doing something that kills the magic. I want something new for sure and so does everyone else but if everyone REALLY wants it, they need to let GTA5 die a bit
Red Dead Online had tremendous potential to me, but all they put in was Hunting/Bounties/Collections. It’s nowhere the depth of GTA online.
Here’s a good talking point about the future of GTA though.. what city do we want reimagined for part 6? I’d like to see London or New Orleans
yeah. Feel like rockstar was just making too much money with GTA online, so they didn’t give RDR online enough love
One of my favorite moments gaming was playing RDO with a buddy. We were hunting and selling the pelts in town. I successfully stole a dude’s pelt and sold it before he could notice what happened. Next stranger comes up and I steal a deer carcass off his horse as he gets off. My buddy is dying laughing at this point, I sell it. Dude comes out, draws his gun and my buddy blasted him with a shotgun. Dude was so mad
I have seen two rumors. One is some sort of cartel story involving Vice City and South America and the other being set across different time periods. Count me in for the latter with the different music/cars from the 70s/80s. Who knows maybe they’re both true.
I played them about 2 years ago and was surprised to see how dated they look and feel. And some of the songs have been removed due to licenses expiring. But the nostalgia factor was still there and the stories and characters were still fun. I think the trilogy is on sale in the PS Store right now, and the driving is still fun as shit, so yeah, that’s how I feel about it.
Some highlights In the summer of 2020, after a police officer killed George Floyd, Rockstar Games quietly shelved a mode of play it had planned to release for its Grand Theft Auto Online game. Called Cops ‘n’ Crooks, the mode was a twist on the children’s game where players organize into teams of good guys and bad guys, but seemed especially tone-deaf during the global reckoning over police violence. Senior executives at the company, concerned about how the narrative might be interpreted during a time of heightened skepticism and mistrust of American police, put it aside. They still haven’t made plans to bring it back, according to people familiar with development. Rockstar’s next game, Grand Theft Auto VI, will include a playable female protagonist for the first time, according to people familiar with the game. The woman, who is Latina, will be one of a pair of leading characters in a story influenced by the bank robbers Bonnie and Clyde, the people said. Developers are also being cautious not to “punch down” by making jokes about marginalized groups, the people said, in contrast to previous games. Sticking to that pledge has already prompted changes to the game. Original plans for the title, which is code-named Project Americas, were for it to be more vast than any Grand Theft Auto game to date. Early designs called for the inclusion of territories modeled after large swaths of North and South America, according to people familiar with the plans. But the company reeled in those ambitions and cut the main map down to a fictional version of Miami and its surrounding areas. Rockstar’s plan is now to continually update the game over time, adding new missions and cities on a regular basis, which the leadership hopes will lead to less crunch during the game’s final months. Still, the game’s world remains large, with more interior locations than previous Grand Theft Auto games, impacting the timeline. Industry analysts anticipate that the next Grand Theft Auto will be out sometime in Take-Two’s 2024 fiscal year, which runs from April 2023 through March 2024, but developers are skeptical. The game has been in development in some form since 2014. Although there are loose schedules in place, people interviewed for this article said they didn’t know of any firm release date and that they expect the game to be at least two years away. Earlier this year, a group of designers quit Rockstar’s Edinburgh office, telling colleagues they were sick of the lack of progress.
Is it really a nightmare? Like, maybe they need to tighten up security or whatever. But it isn’t like I learned a lot from the clips. If anything, seems like the game is largely unfinished and we will still be waiting a few years
People who likely know much more than me are speculating that so much source code being leaked will lead to further delay.
The only precedent for this kind of leaks with thousands of lines of code leaking is Half Life Episode 2 which was delayed
I feel bad for the developers who have been working hard on this game and are about to have their work life balance thrown upside down over this
Obviously I’m not video game industry expert, but not sure how this changes anything for them long term.
Theres a chance the leak came from a WFH employee being hacked which would kill Rockstar’s WFH policy. Also, the source code leaked which would mean people could create hacks, malware, and other devs could use this source code to steal ideas or test things out for their own games. this is absolutely leading to a delay
apparently the hacker claims to have much more and is “wanting to negotiate” lol hope this dude gets absolutely buttfucked
The hacker claims to have sourced code for GTA 5 and 6 and is going to sell the code for 5 to the highest bidder this guy is in for a long day when Take Two finds out who they are
