It would be nice if he didn't die before said books were finished. But those were some really good questions.
GRRM probably read that arthur dayne question and realized he had to think up an explanation for that.
he is joking about the lyanne not having a baby thing right? what the fuck was her promise she wanted ned to keep? Fuck him if he truly kills off jon snow, or if his story line becomes less important than say bitch khaleesi.
The interview had to be translated and the translation above was done from notes. Here is the updated quote regarding Lyanna. Notice the huge change from the above quote. The complete updated interview is on westeros I would imagine. "It's true that the Starks have recently grown scarcer, in the last generations there aren't many of them. Some say that it could be because all of Ned's siblings are dead. Brandon died before he could have children, Lyanna is dead too and Benjen is sworn to the Night's Watch, so he can't have heirs either. Maybe it is also due to the fact that their father, Rickard, was an only son and we have to go back as to why he was an only son. Either way, it is possible that I'm wrong about some of the details, because I'm saying them by memory. At home I have my little cards, my family tree to check this information, because I can't always remember the difference between people." Brandon is dead, with no children Benjen is in the NW (may be dead) can't have children due to vows and between both, Lyanna dead...without a mention of children at all.
In Dance we got to know the character of Brandon Stark a little better, as well as his interest in chasing skirts, much like Robert. Did he have bastards too? Hehehe, yes, it's very possible that there are little Snows, bastards of Brandon around. Interesting. Would be cool to read about them.
Fuck Martin. I'm going to do Q&A sessions to keep you always thinking about my series but I'm still going to fuck around all day and eat pizza while I laugh and laugh.
I'm gonna be so pissed if in 2-3 years he releases a High Valaryian dictionary or a "Beasts of the Seven Kingdoms" guide.
He already said he's working on some other mini book thing along with a "guide to westeros" thing, which is one reason he won't get the book out soon. edit - it was either some kind of guide or a book of old kings or something completely unnecessary right now
he's frustrating, but I could never hate the guy that gave all this world and all these characters. I know it sounds corny, but it's true.
I read one interview where he complained about how people want the books out sooner, and called his younger(than dirt) readers the "entitlement generation" that stupid fuck came from the generation that has the western world on the brink of bankruptcy and in debt up to their eyeballs. Fuck that faggot
Fuck that, plenty of authors have given us huge worlds and awesome characters and still get the books out. This fat fuck cares more about milking it and trolling us than finishing the series.
I'm guessing it was for Rhaegar kid's. Maybe he bought into the prophecy like Rhaegar did and was doing his part to keep Rhaegars heir alive, which was more important than the king or the prince himself. I think it's obvious that what made Rhaegar finally start training to fight was him coming across the prophecy and believing for whatever reason that it was his children that would be needed, and that he would need three. After his wife had two, and was incapable of having more, he went after Lyanna to get a third. Maybe there was love there, maybe some part of the prophecy mentions the Starks so he chose her for that reason, we'll likely find out later. I'm just saying that was not as much a love story as it was him trying to fulfill the prophecy. If he had Dayne convinced of all this, it would explain why he stuck around.
