Played for about an hour last night and boy does that first hour kick ass and leave me wanting to play more.
Helpful hint, triangle does not mount the horse like other games. It's hits him with your sword and scares him away.
The wind is your direction. It does a really good job giving you visual clues of where to go (animals to follow, wind pointing towards tracked items, etc) without cluttering the HUD.
Its kind of bullshit they count review copies in the rankings when they get the games like a month in advance.
well i have a glitched quest so my race to the plat vs CUtigers is offically over but unoffically hes getting worked
This game is gorgeous and so far fun as hell I can’t count how many times I’ve jumped on the horse and hit X to make him gallop only to hop my dumb ass right back off
Even just 3ish hours in, and I am so pleasantly shocked at how much I like it it’s probably already top 3 sandboxes for me (Witcher, BoTW)
Game is pretty fun. Just got done finishing HZD dlc content and played some GoD plus game and realized I was just trying to find a new game to scratch an itch. Chose it over TLOU 2 for now because I wanted something with more fighting
Just finished and got the platinum. Great game, and really enjoyable story. All of the major characters were interesting, and the side quests never felt overwhelming or a drag to do. This is one of the better designed open worlds I've seen, and Sony has them a good new IP with this series
Goodness you guys are plat-ing and I’m still at the start of act 2. Been doing mythics and liberating
I still haven’t finished act 1. Been putting off the main quest to do side story stuff to level up and get new armor and weapons
Also does anyone use any other armor than the samurai armor? I can see using the archer one for some things but the full armor just seems like a beast
i used only travelers until i got the sakai armor in act 2. after that i used travelers until standoff then switched to sakai during the startup animation of that, then back to traveler after combat was over. once i got the ghost armor i used that instead of sakai.
It’s not GoW level due to it having the superior fighting, graphics, storyline and puzzles but it’s inched it’s what past HZD on my favorites. HZD has the storyline but it’s combat is so redundant compared to Ghosts.
The act 2 battle of yarikawa’s soundtrack was so good. I was really enjoying this game before, but the sequences between yarikawa to the end of act 2 has taken this game to another level for me.
I don’t think this game is perfect by any means but it does a LOT right. The thing I’m most impressed with now is how I was starting to feel a little burn at the end of act one then act two comes along and adds an area that feels and looks completely new and immensely interesting. From the scenery to the new enemies it just does a great job of reinvigorating you. The rollout of the world is pretty damn great and I think more open world games should do that. Doesn’t FEEL level gated due to the freedom you’re given in the first area but in practice it actually is. Similar to the map changing and becoming more accessible in god of war as you advance. I’m just convinced this is the only way I can enjoy an open world. Unchecked freedom in these games usually cause me to burn myself out more quickly
I’ve noticed I’m doing way more side quests than usual. I typically just burn through the main storyline but I’m actually trying to level up my character and get more stuff before attempting the much if the story. I’ve only done one main take in act 2 so far.
Also using the Sakai armor. Haven’t tried the Goku or whatever quest yet because the Sakai has everything I’d want in armor
I idea if it’s even worth doing non main storyline tales and liberating mongol camps but I keep doing it
One of the key things for me is that the side content feels tethered to the broader narrative. At least based on what I've seen so far, everything is a direct or indirect consequence of the invasion, and taking on a side quest feels meaningful. Horizon zero dawn and witcher both did this well. Bethesda and ubisoft games are awful at it. This game is much more in line with the first two
Yeah there's a lot of side quests that flesh out the supporting cast of the main story line. Really thought it was good stuff. There's 3 of those characters that I think would make for good leads in a spinoff type game (similar to TLoU, uncharted & infamous). Spoiler Mosako, Norio, and Tomoe
