Also really enjoyed Fall Guy last weekend. Gosling plays a great helpless boyfriend/lover. I can see how it was so expensive as it was also a decent action flick looking forward to Challengers this weekend
Excited to check this out. In Apes-related content, just saw this and made me laugh. The Tim Burton Planet of the Apes was an early DVD for my brother and I growing up, we watched it so many times back in the day.
This shit infuriates me. Calls Spielberg a hack because he didn’t include all these details about the real Schindler….EXCEPT HE INCLUDED EVERYTHING SHE SAYS HE DIDN’T.
I’ve been in a movie rut the last few months for whatever reason, but it seems like it’s turned out to be a pretty decent movie year. What should I catch up on? Besides dune 2, I haven’t seen anything.
How is it almost summer and the only new releases this weekend are Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (saw it Wednesday night, pretty good), Poolman (now less than 20% on RT), and Not Another Church Movie (no reviews yet and based on the trailer i wouldn't be surprised if it has a 0% on RT)
Challengers, Fall Guy, and Monkey Man are all worth checking out (and Monkey Man may already be streaming), as well as Abigail, Civil War, and the new Kingdom of the Apes flick
Challengers, Love Lies Bleeding, The Taste of Things. If you haven’t seen Iron Claw yet it’s on Max as of today.
Yeah I’m especially bummed I missed this one and the other indie films this spring. La Chimera, How to Have Sex, The Sweet East, The People’s Joker, etc. I know How to Have Sex is on streaming but I’ll probably have to wait awhile for the others. I’m thinking about signing up for Mubi Go just to make sure I know when some of these smaller or foreign films are showing. Also a movie a week for $20 a month is far from a bad deal
No idea how I hadn’t seen this before (just now finishing it). Also smh at the dude who uploaded this.
Randomly came across the script and started reading. It was good. But now I’m sad. Movie itself is probably way more impactful. Don’t really want to put myself through that.
lol just watched Last Stop in Yuma County, really enjoyed it. End was slightly unhinged edit: apparently there’s still 15 minutes left edit 2: remained slightly unhinged, still really enjoyed it
Gosling & Blunt were both great - I would have preferred a lot more scenes with the two of them as that was when the film really sparked. Still a lot of fun, though a typically messy Leitch finish.
They're both great and I really liked Fall Guy. I thought the split screen scene was so good between the two of them and extremely well shot. Only scene I didn't like was the early one when she kept lighting him on fire. But those two have chemistry with everyone to the point where it almost feels like cheating to put them together. I just hope Gosling isn't falling into doing the Ryan Reynolds thing of deciding to improv his way through movies going forward. He's so talented but you can't do that kind of stuff in every role. I don't think it's a problem right now, but it feels like it could be an issue down the road for him.
For some reason I remember a Grantland pod 10+ years ago right before Simmons got fired where he, Wesley Morris and Chris Connelly were talking about the four big Hollywood Chrises whenever something about any of them come up. If someone had told me 5 years ago that this is what 2020-24 was going to look like for Pine and Evans, I would not have believed it.
Really liked Kingdom. Wasn’t sure how it would be post-Caesar but it was enjoyable. Loved the way the birds were incorporated into the story
