Main difference there, IMO, is that seatbelts prevent (or lessen) people from becoming missiles that impact other drivers in a collision while helmets are mostly for the people wearing them. That said, wear a fucking helmet if you’re on a motorcycle or similar conveyance.

Not necessarily. A guy flying out of his car and into the road could cause an approaching car to swerve and get into an accident of their own, while a seatbelt could prevent that scenario.
