#Book Club I'm 2 chapters in and already love it. I've loved everything Klein has written so thats not surprising.

About 20% through. This is my first Klein book though others have been on my list for a while. Luckily I wasn't aware of Naomi Wolf, but she sounds just like Maajid Nawaz, who I personally know (look at me). He was a normal, progressive type dude who went completely unhinged after covid. My wife and his wife are childhood friends and we hung out with them this summer - luckily no discussions of the type occurred - just shot the shit about kids, travelling and booze. He was a fun and personable guy but is a totally deranged blowhard on his shows/socials.
Ive been waiting for people to discuss. I read the book a couple months ago and didnt want to get ahead of where people are reading. Ive known a few people that got pulled to the right like that. No one famous tho
When I first met him he was a pretty frequent guest of AC and then Bill Maher and now Rogan - so there's his progression. I just checked his Twitter for the first time in a while yesterday because I looked up Wolf and saw she followed him, and holy shit he's been going on recently about vaccines killing all these elderly Brits.
I’m about 30% through and enjoying it but have been busy. Klein’s novels are always great but make me feel terrible about the state of the world (even more than normal)
My biggest takeway from this one is her ability to conceptualize something that you can feel is out there, know is wrong, but couldnt quite make it tangible. And she's able to do so in such a succinct and clear way
Finished yesterday. The previous comments nailed it for me. I liked the path she took taking the covid into the shadow world and into imperialism/zionism discussions. I did highlight this particular banger of a line: "With stakes as high as eternal salvation, what's a little pussy grabbing?" I'll also definitely be watching this
I can’t shake the thought in my head reading this it’s just someone terminally online. Quoting fitness bloggers with maybe a couple thousand followers about vaccines and going on about it for 40-50 pages? It’s well written and engaging, but feels like I’m scrolling the Trump thread from 2021 at times lol
Good point, that’s fair. I just don’t want to fall in the same trap as some of our favorite sports podcasters where you take a random Twitter reply and apply it at a macro level
