And only to "rescue" two people, one of which died anyway and the other is a junky. Oh and to possibly rescue an old woman who had one good leg. No big deal though releasing a herd of zombies. Was a good episode, but I still care nothing about these characters. Any of them could die and I would not care. Except for the semi hot daughter
FWIW Catalina Island is 20 or so miles from LA depending on where Strang's house was which I assume is in Palos Verde based of the scenery and the terminus of the LA River. My initial thought was that was where they were going to go when he said go west. Potential problems are obviously getting to the boat along with Catalina being infested, although it is a small enough island with a couple of ports and wouldn't have as many people since it is a small island.
While the finale was better than expected, I was pretty disappointed overall. I think they should have spent time showing the overall chaos as it progressed with little vignettes of the main characters. Instead we got the very beginning and then an entire missing timeframe while they focused on Nick's drug addiction and Travis' women issues.
Just watched this last night. Along with releasing thousands of zombies.... my biggest WTF moment was how the old man knew to play pied piper with zombies like he had been doing it for years like Rick and the gang. He had never come in contact with one until that moment. The other thing is this.... this show is supposed to be about the outbreak and downfall of society, so we got 6 episodes poorly done on that and now we are caught up to the Rick and group mentality of survival. Fucking lazy writing.
My wife watches this show, so I caught most of the finale last year and the back half of tonight's show. Holy fuck at how bad it is and how the people on this show make the characters on TWD seem like geniuses and the actors on TWD seem like Marlon Brando. Those fucking teenagers are a billion times worse than Koral. Fucking punching the dad in the face because his mom was too much of a selfish cunt to shoot herself while claiming that he could have "fixed it" after she got infected...Then jumping into the Pacific for a nice swim in your bitch ass hoodie...then having junkie dipshit jump into the water with his awesome lung capacity...then encountering zombies in the water....then claiming you hear someone in the sea of capsized zombies and swimming over there even though the one dude has the little boat coming towards you... And then there's the dumb bitch making new friends on the radio and leading them right to their boat. The only guy worth a shit is the black dude, and of course the rest of them bitch out when he tries to use some actual logic and good decision making. Seriously, fuck this show. That fucking junkie kid who makes all the spastic double chin faces and the little bitchy Mexican in the hoodie are just awful characters and terrible actors.
Yeah, she's hot. So I'll watch just because of that and the fact that it's sort of watchable based on subject matter. It's Sunday night, so whatever.
Also, who the fuck swims in the ocean with their eyes open? Dude would have gotten got by the floater pretty easily.
This is a really, really bad television show. I bitch about TWD, but holy fuck the writing on this is horrendous. This isn't even worth the time to bitch about all of the ridiculous character decisions, because there is almost nothing redeeming about any of them.
Watching no . This is so bad. The youngest son just staring at his moms body while zombies are coming, then making them bring the body on the boat. It's just fucking bad all the way around.
Not defending the show, but I love how everyone here would automatically be Billy-Bad-Ass, making all the right choices and not being the least bit fazed by the end of days and just rolling with shit. "I don't entirely understand what the fuck is happening to the world and my dad just put a bullet in moms brain? Nah, I'm good. Let's roll." lol
I can't speak for everyone, but my personal gripe is that the story lines and writing are so shitty that each character does absolutely ridiculous shit 90% of the time. It would be more believable for Chris to do dumb shit if he didn't punch his dad, act like he could've saved the mom, dump his mom's corpse angrily/weirdly, jump into the water with a hoodie, not notice the boat/zombies nearby, etc. etc. etc. Also, who prioritizes carrying a corpse onto a boat in the middle of a zombie apocalypse? I mean, it just consistently makes no sense at all.
I can look past wanting to bring his mom's corpse, as people certainly need to mourn in their own ways, but how dumb do you have to be to assign a teenage girl to control the radio? Strand and the older hispanic guy are the only ones who seem to have any common sense, but clearly they'll end up as bad guys because theyre cutthroat when it comes to adding 20 people to their yacht.
Anyone else want to kill the woman (I don't know any names) for bitching to guy who owns the boat about not picking up the other people on the water? Cunt, he just saved you and your family, and you're telling him what to do? Kill yourself.
You have to remember that the people in the show don't know shit compared to us. All the annoying kid knows is that mom seemed fine moments ago and then dad (who he already has typical teenager of divorce issues with) puts a bullet in her head. You don't understand him lashing out? I'm certainly not saying the kid isn't annoying as shit, 'cause he is. But I can also understand that people are likely to have some weird reactions in a scenario like this. To me, Daniel "knowing everything" about surviving a zombie apocalypse is weirder than a teenager being sullen and lashing out occasionally.
Good point - shooting your ex-wife in the head before she shows a single symptom at the very beginning of a zombie apocalypse is yet another stupid thing that happened on this show.
She also had been at a "hospital" and seen people get bit and turn, and knew that she was bitten and would therefore also turn. Why is that rational decision seen as stupid but the black guy being all "fuck you guys, we aren't helping any other people" is seen as smart? I get that you want to hate the show, and that's fine. It's not the best show ever, and it's not the worst.
It's dumb to kill somebody you love before a single symptom appears, and when she still could be helpful. Also, who knows, maybe she's immune? No reason to kill her at that point. Deciding to not help 20 other people means more supplies and space for the people on board. It's more than likely the best decision for everybody on that boat.
And since I'm apparently doing this now, you're telling me that we already have a murderous band of pirates in a couple days since the fall of Los Angeles? Give me a fucking break.
So I thought the 1st season was pretty good. Much better than TWD to me. Is the 2nd season premiere really that bad or did most of you not like S1 either?
I thought s1 had flaws but was decent/good. The writing and decisions in this episode was just silly/dumb. I doubt it will downright suck all season long though.
Season 1 was fine, except that they completely botched the 1 thing this show was supposed to show - the downfall of civilization. Instead, society was overrun while the cast was barricaded in a little community.
thats what i was interested in...then season 2 starts out LA is on fire, and they're running towards a boat they did a pretty decent time jump right?
Like hours? Because dead momma hadn't decayed at all. And dead bodies look very different even hours after death
Is it just me or do the "walkers" in this version of the story "turn" much more quickly than they ever did before?
Probably They seemed to change at different rates in walking dead as well...depending on the story needs 80% of last night's episode was lame. Needs to pick up the pace. At this point there should be no down time, looking up at the stars and pondering philosophically.
Brandon Davis @BrandonDavisBD 5m5 minutes ago Sunday’s episode of Fear the Walking Dead is BY FAR the best episode of the series so far. HUGE step in the right direction. #FTWD
*nick falls into walker pit because he stood over the edge* *daniel attemps to take on 100+ walkers with one handgun* EVERYBODY IN THIS SHOW IS SO GODDAMN FUCKING STUPID
That was dumb, but Nick is quickly becoming my favorite character on this show. That seemed very out of character for Daniel.
Better question is: why? They weren't going to be there for hours and have to worry about the changing tide, and it seemed like there was plenty of dry ground before that little ridge they put it up on
