I've got some like weird addiction to it where I have to make everything spicy. You also develop a tolerance where you need shit hotter and hotter. My wife has also asked me before if something was hot I was eating. I've told her no only for it to light her up. Oops
Slight pivot - but due to how long me and MLS have been in restaurants we're basically immune to how hot plates/pans are within reason - definitely burned my dad last year, possibly the only time I've ever heard him curse.
Use to love super spicy things but fucked up my stomach to the point where stuff that was routinely fine now gives me heartburn. Also becoming lactose intolerant as I age. Getting very bitchmade in my old age.
I worked as a waiter in college. I have done this to people when I worked there. You just get used to picking up really hot shit and don't really notice it
The mil worked as a waitress for a while, she is the same . whenever I feel pain from a hot plate I just drop it. I will live with the consequences
My forearms are the same way - your body just acclimates after running hundreds of burning hot plates for years. But yea scalding hot carries I just don't notice the pain anymore - MLS may be worse than me on this front. I would be willing to bet my feet are still complete pussies to heat.
Ice cream is the worst part, about 15 minutes after I eat it I’m in the bathroom. I still eat it because I’d rather have lava diarrhea for a minute or two than not eat ice cream the rest of my life. On the plus side I will never be constipated for a long time armed with that knowledge. You have to look for the silver linings in life.
I laughed at the first like being from user The Milkman Also, there are pills you can take for lactose intolerance. Mrs Constant has to load up on them to manage ice cream. Also, The Milkman that's a solid avatar. My old dog was named Blue (RIP, good boy) and everyone always assumed that was because of my Michigan fanboyness, when he was actually named after the Blue Dog.
I was lactose really bad my entire childhood - like would have to be taken to the hospital bad. I suddenly just became tolerant around like 15/16 ish and it doesn't remotely affect me anymore. I have friends that have had the exact inverse and were fine until they were like 25 and all of a sudden get hit with it.
Isn't there lactose free ice cream? No idea how it compares in taste or texture, but wondering if you've tried that.
I haven’t tried to do anything like medication or lactose free alternatives. I just deal with the mud butt.
My mom is lactose intolerant and buys these at Kroger and I think they're pretty good. I buy them occasionally just for me too.
They are indeed. I had their coffee version on a whim once and noticed after I ate it that it was non-dairy.
