I mentioned this in the LFC thread when they posted one of these recently but my issue with this is that it doesn’t account for was the call viewed as the correct call. Obviously that would be based on the writer’s opinion for some calls but offside they either got it right or wrong no matter how close it was
Also, any claim of "VAR bias" must also include the fact that the on-field refs must have the exact opposite bias. So Liverpool fans complaining about their -6 must also accept that on-field officials must clearly have a +6 pro-Liverpool bias (give or take since VAR obviously isn't perfect)
I don’t even mean to direct anything towards them, that just happened to be where it was posted and I don’t recall them being over the top about it. Just a complaint I have about strictly looking at +/-
Got the top 4 but in wrong order. Wasn’t far off on Newcastle and Leeds. Rest isn’t pretty, especially those awards picks
i am happy with our lowly double. don't wanna get greedy congrats to chelsea for the trophy they earned it
Alright take your best shot Gallant Knight props for me for hitting a superfecta box on the top 4 though
Mourinho did bring a Conference League team to the top of the table for a hot minute, how many votes does that garner?
It will be a massive achievement if a team breaks into the top four that isn’t City, Liverpool, Chelsea, or United in the next 2-3 years. Leicester have a better squad than Arsenal and Tottenham, and better recruitment. United might buy Ndidi for a staggering price, but I don’t think buying players from Leicester is sound business.
hard time agreeing with that. Liverpool had to go on a huge run this year to get top 4. Chelsea tried to piss it away but Leicester went harder. And before last year, United spent 5 years out. It will be very competitive for top 4 next year, as has it's been for years.
Any team who had the injuries we suffered in the same position groups would struggle like we did to make top 4. That’s just piss poor luck. We’d have easily made 2nd with a season with normal numbers of injuries.
Sure. But it still happened. And two weeks ago it looked certain for y’all to not finish top 4. I’m just saying that it will be competitive for top 4 going forward.
Arsenal and Tottenham (with Kane seemingly leaving) look pretty far off the pace. I'd be pretty shocked if the top 4 next year isn't the same as this year with different order.
Leicester blew top four two years in a row on the final day, right? I'm not saying there isn't a good chance the top four is the same again next year, but acting like anyone cracking that group is some impossible feat when there were only 10 points between 3rd and 10th and I think 6 teams went into the last day with a chance at top four, just seems ridiculous to say. edit - I don't think West Ham had a chance for UCL, but point remains.
Liverpool fans just spent months having meltdowns about how fucking god awful they are, and now the narrative is about their strength, resilience, and toughness, and how those qualities make their positive future inevitable. Arsenal spent a similar streak bemoaning the product to such an extent that the text because a commentary on the futility of following their team. Now both are racing to see who really deserves to be cocky. Fascinating.
