Quote by Dave Attell Eggnog, who thought that one up? “I wanna get a little drunk, but I also want some pancakes.” You know what eggnog really is. You’re not gonna want to hear it, but I’ll tell ya. It’s elf cum. You might as well pour it down your back and slap your self on the ass.
It’s fine. Happy to drink it once or twice every holiday season but I have no interest in rolling it out for the rest of the year.
Egg nog inspired my oldest memory. I remember being in a high chair and wanting the magical milk-like drink that I had the day before. I didn’t know what it was called, so I kept saying “milk sugar” over and over again, and the adults all laughed at me until they finally figured out what I wanted. Thank you, egg nog.
I prefer Coquito. If you haven't had it, you are missing out. Its essentially a Puerto Rican eggnog with a bunch of rum and cinnamon. The GOAT Christmas-time nightcap
coquito is the absolute best One of my former employees who is Puerto Rican used to send me a couple of bottles every Christmas - one traditional and one pistachio - when his mom would make it. I say used to bc she passed away this year
Haven't read the thread yet. Poll is insufficient, need multiple selections. Chose yes with no liquor because I like it all ways, with or without liquor. Also rum a good option that isn't represented.
Not milk related but had some wassail at the friend Christmas party last weekend. Always like to do a batch of mulled wine this time of year as well.
Had some at the Xmas party last year. Didn't make it, theirs was made with coconut milk/cream. Not sure if that's traditional but it was fire.
1st time making it. Did it 12/3, had some yesterday and it’s really good. No clue if it’ll improve with more time Edit: also
He tried it again this year aged 2 years- https://www.instagram.com/reel/C0349M7LjZT/?igshid=ZWI2YzEzYmMxYg==
Actually got my best friend's mom's family recipe for boiled custard last year. Similar experience, think closer to melted ice cream. I had been hounding her for the recipe since college when she brought it up one iron bowl weekend and we enjoyed it with some Makers. I couldn't believe she finally gave in. Uses the large packages of cook and serve pudding, so in theory could make it any flavor you could find. Made a couple batches of vanilla last year but have boxes to make a chocolate and a lemon batch this year. Will be making some next week and then again before NYE
I usually make it around Thanksgiving or before. Then don't drink it for two weeks. It usually is all drank by new years day
Love an egg nog. With store bought, I make them obnoxiously strong and add some nutmeg and cinnamon. On a related note, I’m having a White Russian right now and it’s absolutely delightful.
1.5 oz bourbon 0.5 oz Meyer’s dark rum 3 oz whole milk 3/4 tsp vanilla extract 0.5 oz Demerara syrup shake, strain into chilled rocks glass, fresh grated nutmeg on top
I do almost this exact drink but I add shot of espresso and use combo of oat milk and bit of half and half. Can even do the milk as a cold froth
like that a lot. I play around with my recipe as well. I used to go straight bourbon but it needs a touch of that dark rum funk to round it out. I tend to cut the sugar back more than stated for myself as well. Lets the natural sweetness of the milk shine. When making for a crowd they tend to want it sweeter though. Will definitely try a little coffee addition of some sort.
I shoot for Halloween every year but I typically leave a couple bottles left over from the previous year for the adventurous drinkers (I haven't gotten sick yet and this will be year 5 or so)
My mind is blown. I believe all of you, I’m just saying that multiple year old booze-laden egg custard struck me as questionable at best.
i know i should take the plunge and make my own, but this is more than good enough to keep being lazy and just buy it
Bourbon Milk Punch makes 1/2 gallon 3 1/2 cups whole milk 1 pint half and half 1 pint bourbon 1/2 cup simple syrup 1 tablespoon vanilla extract to make the simple syrup take 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup hot water mix together until sugar is dissolved
